Great addition to the kitchen
After only a few uses, it smells as though I have had it for years, like an old dutch oven. I like the way that the small holes in the lid allow it to steep things without them turning glurpy or soupy. When it comes to cooking tomatoes down to a thicker stock, this is the best pot that I own.

Love the look and using traditional cooking methods
It’s a beautiful pot and bought this primarily for making mole and other Mexican sauces and stews. It’s also a beautiful serving vessel. Now mind you I’m not Hispanic or Latino. But I’m a huge fan of Mexican food and cooking. Naturally I gravitated to learning myself - thank God for Rick Bayles. The only thing that makes me nervous about this pot is it seems fragile. I’m afraid of breaking it. Cooking in fired clay cookware is very new to me. I keep thinking of all the broken pottery from ancient archaeological digs on National Geographic. It’s broken for a reason.

Works well for us
We are retired and are home most of the time. We've started having beans and rice on the stove every day as a way to have "fast food" at the ready. After researching the best way for us to accomplish this, we decided on the cazuela. This one is a little large for the two of us, but it works perfectly and on the occasions where we are making soup or are serving more than two people. And I use it to soak and cook small amounts of fresh beans. We really love it. We had a question about a small imperfection in the lid and the folks at Ancient Cookware got back to us immediately. We have great confidence in them.

Unexpected fragile Clay Pot
Unexpected fragile clay potI had high hopes for trying. It arrived what seemed like it was well packaged but upon opening it's box it had broken into two pieces. One of the pot holder missing from the clay pot. This pot looks thinner than I expected. I really think this item is too fragile for shipping. Am very disappointed, l have read many good reviews about the pot. But my was arrived badly damaged. Will look one for another brand to buy.
