Helps to keep the garden drain from clogging
I had a couple of garden drains with flat grates that got clogged with leaves and pine needles. The crew that cleaned out the drains recommended I get these atrium grates. So far they work well. But I was told that I will need to rake the grate periodically to ensure a good flow into the drain. I am looking though for a slightly bigger drain grate of this kind (to replace a 15 inch grate). So far no luck finding one.

Very happy with this drain cover!
We have French drains that often get covered with leaves and pine straw causing them to not drain. This has been the perfect solution. The dome is tall enough that even with leaves and straw around it, it drains keeping us from having standing water around the house. Very happy with this purchase.

Sturdy drain cover.
A 5” drain with an easy to remove cover was fun for our 2 year-old granddaughter to drop rocks down. Adding this 12”, very sturdy cover over the drain and smaller cover will keep the small rocks out of the drain pipe. Problem solved!

Slows Drainage But Stays Clear
This is heavy duty and fits a standard 12" square drain perfectly. Keep in mind the same design that keeps leaves from blocking the flow and slowing water drainage is the same design that allows less water to drain at one time (you have fewer holes for the water to drain thru until the sides actually back up high enough to use the higher holes) so if you want faster drainage this is a bit of a risk you've added. In a perfect world you'd add a couple of these instead of just one flat drain, but a good drain design always includes extra drains...

Raingarden over flow solution
I purchased this to replace a flat grate in the overflow area of my rain garden. This style was not locally available in this size, so purchased at Amazon. It allows leaves & debris to accumulate at the lower portion while allowing the excess water to flow in through the upper portion of the dome. The flat style plugs up with leaves and won't allow the system to drain. This works very well.

It's a godsend!
We had a flat grate on a 6" round, backyard drain. We have a bald cypress tree not too far from the drain. During heavy rains, or even melting snow, the drain would periodically plug up with grass clippings, leaves, and from the fall until the next spring- bald cypress needles, flooding the back yard. Would have to wade out in 6" deep water and try to clear it off, which typically only worked temporarily.Replaced it with a 12" square drain and this cover. The cover fit perfectly and after a couple months of use, we've had zero issues. Those fine bald cypress needles have packed themselves around the very bottom layer, but doesn't seem to have slowed the water flow over the top of it a bit. No more wading into hand-numbing water or during thunderstorms to clear the drain!

Fantastic If Your Flat Drain Grates Clog with Debris Runoff
I should have purchased this years ago for my 12x12 flat drainage grate. Every time we had a fast rain, my flat grate would quickly clog with mulch & leaves from my nearby landscaping bed. In extreme downpours, it required me to physically go out with a rake or shovel to clear the debris out multiple times. If I did not, it would clog and water would get in my house.I purchased this hoping this would fix the problem, and it sure did! Debris will still accumulate at the bottom but the water had multiple paths to still get in the drainage grate. It still requires manual cleaning between storms, but it sure beats having to run out in a downpour with thunder and lightning to try to clear the drain every time it rains hard.

Drainage Grate.
The Drainage vent worked great for what I needed it to do. Water went right in and provided a great support for when there is a lot of rain coming off the roof. I incorporated this vent with an underground drainage system, worked really well.
