Have only used a few times so far, but the release lever was silky smooth, better even that the metal trays of 60 years ago! I fill the tray 7/8 full, and when it's frozen, then either let it sit out a few seconds, or quickly run water over the tray and shake off the drops. It releases WHOLE cubes, though I wouldn't mind if there were cracked ice slivers, too.Plastic trays are awful and most break quickly. Silicon trays, even with filtered water, caused tiny bits of whitish material in the ice. Yuck--would never risk silicon again! My kitchen appliances aren't fancy or pricey, but this tray made good sense.

These trays are pricey but I've been trying to eliminate plastic and they're the best quality metal ones I could find. They work great, make ice taste better, and work great. The only trick is to leave them sitting out for a couple minutes before throwing the lever so that the cubes pop free instead of being crushed. They freeze faster than the plastic ones do too, so that's an extra benefit. I do wish they were a touch deeper but that might keep them from fitting in some applications so I understand why they did it.

I loved it! It's a little thin from one my mom used to have but just make sure to fill it in a slimmer fashion.

Great ice tray for larger cubes. The cubes come out easily and 2 large cubes are all I needed to keep water cold in my water mug. I tried silicone and didn’t like it. This tray is more expensive but worth it.

Quality ice, but useless device. I bought this in an attempt to not use plastic trays or stinky silicone. The ice itself is great, but impossible to remove. I left the tray out for a few minutes like other recommended, but the lever doesn't actually push anything but the first row of dividers. It doesn't move/push enough to push the track to crack the rest. For $7....maybe....for $22, no thanks.

Happy purchase, just wish it was slightly deeper. Easy dishwasher cleaning, so I can freeze spices without worrying about the smelln stain or rotting debriis that didn't get clean when washed. I'd buy 2 more if they were just a bit deeper.

Love these. There's definitely a learning curve to use these effectively. They aren't as simple as plastic cube trays but definitely worth the small inconvenience.As one reviewer mentioned do not fill the water all the way up. This makes it a lot easier to break the cubes free and use immediately.

I’ve been replacing plastics, have wanted one of these for years, and this tray is just as satisfying as I hoped it would be. It seems to freeze faster than my old plastic tray, it feels nice and sturdy, releases the cubes easily, and gives me nice, crisp edged ice cubes. The cube under the arm’s “elbow” does need a little encouragement to release and always looks a little more wonky than the others, but it’s ice. Who cares. The rest pop out easily and perfectly. I only have one tray so I don’t know how well it would stack up in the freezer if there were more than one.This truly feels like another plastic-free, buy-it-for-life items and I highly recommend it.
