Review of Statics for Dummies
When I started this book I was hopeful that it would make statics an easier subject to understand and it delivered. Like most text books today the book does have some information that does not need to be there which is admitted by the author, however if you have a science or math oriented background some or all of that information is useful. Statics is a tough subject to learn and the author makes the information easy to understand and the subject matter is related in a manner that anyone should be able to get it. I would recommend this book as an addition to any text book for a statics course or for the person just wanting to learn a new subject.

The Book that Delivers
Okay, so long story short, the book does what it says it does. The first 9 chapters (if memory serves me right) are nothing but vectors, which anyone taking this subject can tell you are the bread and butter of the subject. It goes into some good examples and the only wish I had was that there was an accompanying problem workout book like there is for physics. So far, the book has proved pretty nice, it's quite hefty, but it's a good thing; I love books that put effort between the pages. I highly recommend it to those who are taking a course and have professors whose accent they cannot understand. I've used other books and they are not helpful. The textbook muddles things and the solutions manuals always run short on answers. They skip ahead and don't tell you what that intermediary step is/was. Sometimes that's all you need.

Distills the material well
The way I felt about statics was, it took the worst problems from physics, made them harder, and then filled an entire semester with them. Needless to say, it was not my favorite subject. Thankfully, I had a fairly good teacher, but I was taking online/distance classes before that really became a mainstream thing, so it was hard to ask questions and get them answered well, and while the book explained some concepts well, it was tough to follow for other concepts. This really helped fill in that gap. I would say that it is more useful for explaining the concepts than it is for helping with homework. It does have some examples that will help you a bit on homework problems but it generally does not have examples of the harder types of problems that you are likely to get on an exam. So, I used this and the Schaum's outline for Statics (mainly as a problems repository) to help get me through the class. So, if you are having trouble following the book and are looking for something that makes the concepts understandable, this is definitely a good resource.

Just need to memorize Statics For Dummies to pass any Statics class
Just need to memorize this For Dummies book to pass Statics. Unlike textbooks which are just 300 pages of mostly practice problems, For Dummies is 300 plus pages of step by step solution guides.

Good, but ill-suited for my uses.
While the book came promptly, and is very comprehensive, it is definitely written and structured for the layman. As a Mechanical Engineering student, I found the book to be too simplistic for my needs, and would have liked something with better structure and details. This is Not a textbook replacement.

Very handy book when your professor doesn't explain something
I'm glad I bought this book. It goes over most of what will be on my exams. It doesn't have a lot of example problems, but it explains how to do them in great detail.
