Great camping/survival knife
This Ranger 78 is very much a workhorse. It's not subtle. It just gets stuff done. The grip is pretty awesome. The blade itself is large, sturdy, and holds an edge particularly well for a SAK. It's also a locking blade, which is unusual for SAKs, but quite nice. The release is opened via depressing the actual SAK symbol on the handle. I've used this blade for general camp tasks. The one hand open grip is nice, btw The saw is pretty efficient. It's definitely built for durability over flexibility, but is also very sharp and can chew through wood. Unlike the saw on the mid sized SAKs, this one is large enough to get enough friction to not really grab too much when sawing. As a rule, if the wood is similar to or smaller in diameter than the blade is long, this saw will work like a champ. The back can be used with a fire steel as well. The driver/can opener/bottle opener/wire stripper duo is a classic and always useful. This one also features the awl, an all around great drill, which is probably how you'll use it. And, an actual philips head. The angle can maybe be awkward, but it's a great tool. The toothpick and tweezers pretty much stay where they are. Without modifying the inside of the scales, you won't be able to add something like a Tortoise Gear fire steel. They just don't fit all the way. Anyway, this is my, 'I plan to be out hiking/camping for a while, and/or in more remote areas' addition to my kit as well as something I'll take on construction sites with me. Very versatile in a few settings

Everything you Need nothing you don't
While this not my favorite EDC knife as it it just too big and heavy for that task it is always with me when ever I go hiking or camping. Victorinox have done an excellent job designing a multifunction knife that will truly meet almost any need you might have in an outdoor setting. The knife blade locks in place and is 3 3/4" long. It is thick enough for lite batoning yet the blade will still allow you to perform more delicate and precise carving and crafting tasks. The saw is long enough and has very aggressive teeth so you can actually cut through wood effectively. The Philipps head and standard screwdrivers are useful. The can opener works as does the bottle opener and wire stripper. You even get a useable pair of tweezers and a toothpick. The Awl is very sharp and works well. The downsides are few but include the lack of scissors and a rounded back edge on the knife that won't work with a Ferrocerium rod. The back of the saw handles this task well as long a you keep the rod near the knife body and not out at the tip as the saw does not lock in place.

Awesome knife. Great size, Great grip. Just the right tools. Looks and feels Great.
Most of my carry knives are carbon steel rather than stainless, but who doesn’t want a Swiss Army knife? But so many of these are novelty knives, or some compact secondary carry multitools. Not this one. This has quickly become one of my favourite EDC knives. This model is configured similarly to the actual Swiss Army issue, and the size and grip feel good in the hand, are really useful. The grip is particularly nice. Not a lot of novelty tools on this. I find even the tooth pick and the tweezers hand to have around when doing fine work. The saw is large enough to actually be useful. I also find myself going for this knife when I need a quick screwdriver, which actually surprised me. The four inch blade is sturdy and just what I need in the field. Actually, the only common multitool item I feel like I am missing out on is pliers. But all such multitools are compromises, and this one works for me. Maybe a Leatherman Squirt would be sufficient as to round it out, but even if they offered this knife with pliers I wouldn’t want them as it would ruin the grip and feel of the knife. The one quibble I have is the knife locking mechanism. It is super sturdy, and that is the most important thing, but a bit clumsy to release to close the knife. Really a minor quibble for an awesome knife. I am very happy with it.

Another quality Victorinox knife
Excellent EDC knife. All tools open smoothly. Love the Victorinox symbol on the scale as the unlock button.

Wow! Big and sturdy!
I like it. Its better suited for serious work. At least an inch longer than my last version, the saw works great and I was able to trim the sockets of a DC Breaker with the blade without mishap or fuss. Very nice tool, exceptionally well built and stylish too.

No locking saw
I scoured the Internets to find out whether or not the saw on this knife locked. I finally gave up and decided to just buy the thing and find out. It does not lock; only the main blade does. I had to take a star off for that. However, it is still a really nice, big, beefy, sturdy, Victorinox Swiss Army Knife, which is sweet.

GOAT Swiss Army Knife IMHO
This thing is fricking awesome, had it 30 minutes and I am so impressed with the craftsmanship, not that Victorinox ever let someone down, but the last one is still going after 40 yrs. However, my demands are different now and this knife is my GOAT!!! Update- Trying to activate the main blade is almost impossible, sending it back; I tried opening and closing 100 times, still no difference.
