What can I say about Cross other than Wonderful. Always quality. Great choice of colours for the barrel.

I was given a black Cross Calais by a relative before moving to Europe from Rhode Island, USA, the home of Cross. It was made of stainless steel and had the most perfect balance of any pen I have ever used. The cap formed a seal as to prevent the ink from drying out over long periods of disuse, and it snapped onto the tail when in use as to maintain balance when in use.The new Calais [red for a change of ink - I bought red ink separately] is made of brass, which doesn't have the same balance in the hand. And, unless very firmly pressed onto the tail when in use, the cap spins loosely, threatening to fly off into space. When firmly pressed onto the tail, the cap is reluctant to rejoin it's closed position at the ink's head.I won't use the red as much as I will the black. But, I'll think hard about buying another Cross pen. The perfect balance is a thing of the past.Cross ink flows nicely, but I find the 0.7mm cartridge flows too easily, the line too thick for my taste. Ink cartridges now supplied by a Chinese manufacturer, however, means that cartridges of all widths can easily be replaced.

I'm a big fan of Cross pens, especially the Rollerball. I bought several as xmas gifts. This one was for a very special occasion and it didn't disappoint. The colour on screen didn't do it much justice...it's sleek, beautiful and very classy. It has an "easy to hold" grip (in black) which the "all chrome" ones don't have, thus making it comfortable, especially if you have to do alot of writing as part of your job. This was a huge factor when choosing. The Rollerballs are definitely worth spending the extra for, they're more superior than the ballpoint and it shows in the quality of your writing. I always shop around for the best price and special offers which I've always found here on Amazon!

Really nice premium feel, easy to write with. Might be too thick for smaller hands, but I love it.

Was bought as an Ruby anniversary present. Pen was ok but box it came in was disappointing made it seem as a much cheaper item.
