Highly Recommended!
This brushes replaces one I wore out from overuse! This brush (and all the other Silver Brush brushes) are well made brushes, ideal for watercolor. They hold lots of pigment and water, offer great control, come to a very nice point, and are a real pleasure to paint with. Very highly recommended!

Very unique brush, engineered with artist in mind
I ordered this brush by accident. I wanted to get my hands on WN but ended up getting the “8” silver. Such a happy accident! This brush is very unique. I would like to call it the hybrid brush. It retains its shape firmly but is easy to control. On the first picture, you’ll see that it looks like it’s just a normal brush, but once you stroke your paper, it can behave like a dagger brush giving you the most beautiful and easy to control strokes. The best part about it also is the tip- it holds its shape and does not puddle the paper even if the belly is full. I have on the last picture the size “12”, notice that it can perform very fine line. A word of advice though: you only need 12, 8 and 6 brush. I did the last photo with size 12 brush alone to show how this large beast can perform fine details

Great point
I bought this for the marvelous point, which allows me to paint in the details easily. It’s worth the price.

Favorite brushes, can't paint without them!
Until you use one you just can't understand why all the raves about them. These are very soft brushes compared to synthetic ones. So they "puff" up, carry the load of pigment and water in the belly of the brush but when you need it the needle point is there. because it is needle point. Sometimes you have to turn the brush to find it at the right angle, it carries a lot of water and dispenses the mix so evenly, it is hard to describe. You have probably seen some uneven strokes with synthetics, specially wet on dry. The color has some blotchy parts while you still drag the brush, as if you were changing the mix. That doesn't happen with these brushes. The fact that they don't hold the shape and they sort of shapeshift while painting is a plus for me, because having a brush that always hold the shape of the needle point can be detrimental. What happens when you make a turn, following a curve? There it is, a point on the paper... So I love them for that. When I need the fine point is there! Just turn the brush while reloading.. is magic. It is such a personal preference that is hard to tell which one is right for you. When I need very small details or longer lines, i might reach sometimes for synthetic, because I can feel the feedback of the brush on the paper and paint better. I love these brushes, have them from 2 to 12 in the rounds and a 3/4 oval which pretty much can take place of a flat for washes anytime. Some pigments will stick to these brushes like crazy and when I use those (phtalos, some quinacridones, payne's grey)I use soapy water (dove soap bar) in my first cleanse bucket while painting. These are beautiful brushes, I tried once a kolinsky and I just couldn't justify the price when I can use these.

Great brush!
My favorite watercolor brush, by far! I've had it a long time and it still works great, although the black paint on the handle has chipped off over time.

Yes, the right brush matters, and this is it! AMAZING painting experiences await.
Wow. I'm blown away by this brush! Wish I'd known about it years ago. It's true that if you don't use quality supplies when beginning watercolor art, you will become discouraged. I've played around with watercolors for years because I love the flow of them, but never really got the hang of it. This beautiful brush is a game-changer. I was immediately struck by the look and feel of the quality. The bristles are soft, smooth, and hold a good amount of water. The tip is incredible to work with! It keeps a very sharp point that works as well as a fine tipped pen. So I can paint in tiny places with no paint blobs coming off the end. The body stays tightly in place while needed, taking curves very well, but also spreads out softly with little pressure to paint the wider areas. No splaying out of stray hairs, no forcing the bristles to move a certain way, and always the proper amount of water flow coming out, which I thought was amazing. (Seems like I never have too much or too little.) Very easily responsive to your moves. I bought a size 8 first of all. If you are a beginner and don't want to make a large initial investment, this is the FIRST brush you need. It will give you such an enjoyable painting experience that you will be coming back for the other sizes, using this initial purchase as your guide. I wish my first instructor had told me about this brush. It's a great investment. Thank you, Silver, for putting out fine quality products for people like me who find emotional satisfaction in their art experience. I'm also an art-supply hoarder, so I can't wait to try out the other sizes. Happy painting and never give up.

Some of the best brushes
This is a very nice brush. Has a very pointy tip and holds a lot of water and paint. It snaps back nicely after applying it to paper. I’m new to the watercolor world but I’ve tried many different paints, paper and brushes. My advice for a newbie...... Winsor Newton Cotman brushes are cheaper and in my opinion a great brush for the money and beginners.UPDATE: I’ve now been watercolor painting for well over a year. These brushes are AMAZING! Beginners, professional every and step in your painting journey can benefit from these brushes. They hold a ton of water and the tip is super pointed. I now have an 8,6,4 and 2. Can’t beat the smaller brushes for details and smaller scale paintings.

Excellent watercolor brush, delivered fast, and packaged well.
All of Silver brushes are excellent for watercolor. They are characteristically ultra soft, hold lots of water and have a very sharp point, but they are also extremely flexible.
