Very compact, well made and extremely powerful
Unless you have something that needs very high flow, this 6020 is much too strong for a 10 gallon tank. My cleaner shrimp was hiding from the flow. It's that powerful. Looking at the instructions, it's the same as the 6040 and the only difference is that there is a controller you can use which controls the 6040 and can produce waves, pulses, etc. but it appears you CANNOT connect the 6020 to a controller. It is a standalone circulator at a fixed level. But it's a very well designed piece of equipment with solid plastic and metal/stainless steel components. There are three parts. You get a very powerful back magnet (very), a connector piece with magnet end that connects to the pump via four soft plastic pegs and the pump itself. The connector has a suction type magnet which acts as both a suction cup and magnet so you had best get the circulator positioned properly first and then put on the magnet in the back of the tank to seal it in place. It's not so easy to get off which can be a good thing if you've set it up properly. There is a cheap plastic director which allows you to rotate the flow in a circle - only on the plane it is set up. So you can rotate it up, down, front, back but not horizontally. You can also remove the director which allows the the water to be pushed straight forward in a wide spread. This is very effective and much stronger than the Hydor 240GPH and even the step up 425GPH and 600 GPH. This is strong - it says 660GPH and I would tend to believe that it can put out current that might approach that although it's a bit optimistic. It has a very thick cord for US outlets which is indicative of a very highly insulated wiring and what you'd expect from a quality device. While it's too much for my fish and blowing them away, this is a fantastic piece of equipment I'll keep around for use when I have a larger tank.

We returned the Model 6020 Tunze Nano Stream.
We returned the Model 6020 Tunze Nano Stream. Some of the previous reviews were correct about the 6020 Nano Stream not working properly. The 6020 unit arrived clean and new. The unit looked good.Next, we looked out for any missing or broken parts which we did not find.At times, the Tunze 6020 Nano Stream would turn on normally as described, but after a simple test of shutting off the power source, waiting a brief moment of 10 to 30 seconds, and then allowing power to the pump again, the 6020 Nano Stream unit would not turn back on.The Nano Stream 6020 seemed as if it wanted to start, as it made a slight click noise, but would not fully power up as a normal pump should. We also tried to power the Nano Stream 6020 simply by plugging it straight in to the wall outlet, unplugging it, and once again plugging it back in directly to the wall outlet. This would isolate any other equipment issues involved such a faulty surge protector or power strip. After seeing this 6020 unit showed starting problems as described by other reviewers, we decided to manually take off the curved deflector, slightly turn the end as if we were going to clean the Nano Stream unit, check for anything out of the ordinary and reassemble it.After this disassembly process, we observed the pump would turn back on at times and sometimes not function properly at all.We did purchase the next model up from Tunze (model 6040 controllable unit), and have never had any issues with the function or any re-starting issue on the model 6040.The 6020 seemed like a simple solution to keep equipment costs down, but fell short with expectations.I hope Tunze can fix the issues in the future as the price point was great.

Good, but keep tabs on those blue plugs.
The powerhead itself is great, small form factor, good magnet mount, powerful and easily adjustable direction shield. My big problem with this is that those little blue rubber plugs that join the powerhead to the magnet will fall out anytime you want the move the powerhead or remove it for cleaning. Luckily they float, but I have no idea why it's designed that way (noise dampening?)

Cool little pump so far..
I purchased this reluctantly after reading all the reviews.. I honestly had never purchased a tunze pump before, so I did not know what to expect.. I needed another pump, as I had been using jebao, and I am tired of fighting and dealing with them.. I said I would go to tunze, because it integrates into my apex, their reputation, and they are cheaper than vortechs with Wxm.. But I wanted to test the waters with a smaller pump, before I plunk down almost 500.00 for pumps for my main display..So far, this little guy has shocked me.. It puts out a lot more flow that I expected(it actually looks like more than my put out) and it's silent.. I took a star off, because as another poster indicated, when it first starts, you can hear it click, trying to find its center (I guess), but as long as that is all it does, that's is fine with me.. I don't turn it off (or plan to) often.. I was debating the 6040,but I decided to go cheaper as this is an experiment.. I forgot to mention that it is in a 40 gallon Rubbermaid tub that I am using as added water volume, and a sort of saltwater Lagoon.. I mostly have liverock in it, and will hopefully add mangroves soon..I will update if anything happens, however, I am really hoping for the best with this pump.. It's been going strong for 4 days so far..

Overkill
Tried on a 20 gallons península and looks horrible, is loud and is way too strong for a nano tank.
