my favorite strings
I use these nylon wound strings on my Hofner Club bass. They fit perfectly. The smooth surface is comfortable, especially with slides. The nylon dampens the sound so you don't hear the metallic clicking and clanking against the frets or the squeaks against your fingers. They produce a pure, deep tone that is good when you don't want a bright, noisy sound. I saw that Paul also used them on his bass, so they are Beatle approved.

Fits my Epiphone Viola Bass Guitar perfectly
I wasn't sure these strings were going to fit, based on an earlier review. In that review, the ball ends of the strings were too large to fit in the Epiphone Viola's tailpiece. I will confirm that the ball ends are definitely larger than the ones on the round wound and stainless steel flat wound strings. As part of my research, I contacted La Bella directly and inquired if these strings would fit the Epiphone Viola, and their response was "Yes". So tentatively, I went ahead and ordered these black nylon tape wound strings in "Like New" condition from the Amazon Warehouse and saved a little money. They arrived perfectly as described. I proceeded to remove one of the flat wound strings on the bass to see if indeed the ball end was too large to fit the tailpiece, and to my surprise, it fit perfectly! Not sure if Epiphone changed the specs on the tailpiece, but these strings definitely fit the slot properly with the ball end hidden, so I proceeded to replace the remaining three strings without any issues. I did get some buzzing/rattling of the lower E string at first, but I let the strings "settle in" for a day or two and thankfully the buzzing issue resolved itself. Not long after I bought the Epiphone Viola, I replaced the factory round wound strings with La Bella's 760FHB2 stainless steel flat wounds and I loved the feel and sound of them, but I think I love these new nylon tape wound strings even more. They are so smooth to play and so easy on the fingers, quiet on the frets, and they took very little time to break in and hold tuning. Not only that, the black strings also look amazingly good on the bass. Fit and finish are excellent with no fray at all on the light blue/gray silk windings on both ends. No guarantees these will fit every Epiphone Viola bass apparently, but they certainly did in my case.

Absolutely perfect
I put these on an acoustic electric bass and I have to say, I'll never use any other strings on that bass. They are petfect for me. The feel and tone are all I was looking for.

Good sounding strings
These are some very good sounding strings and they don't make any noise because They're very smooth. The e string is very very loose. That's the only thing I don't like about him even though I got used to it pretty quickly.

THESE DO NOT FIT EPIPHONE VIOL BASS
Do not bother buying these if you have an Epiphone Viol bass. The end pictured (see red arrow) is si much bigger than original string end it will not thread into the bridge. I have emailed the customer care and they didn't even understand my question (thought it was a question of how they looked). Anyway, move on if you own a new Epiphone. They might work on a Hoffner. No idea.
