Is there a foolproof retainer on this unit that really prevents a drawer from falling out??

The drawer itself has a raised tab on the rear. This prevents the drawer from falling out unless you lift the front of the drawer upwards and purposely remove it. One word of caution however, while the rear tab is sturdy it could beak if the drawer is loaded to capacity with heavy parts (nuts/bolts) and is left hanging. Though I’ve used them for years and never seen it happen but you never know.

Do the dividers fit? Reviewers for similar product states dividers need to be trimmed to fit properly.

I had no problems with the dividers. They were sized correctly to the tray sizes.

Are the holes spaced for easy mounting on pegboard?

The hole spacing is 15-1/4 inches. I don't think I would mount this on pegboard, when it's full it will be very heavy.

can you order replacement parts for example bins or dividers?

Yes. The dividers are part no 40715 and the are sold on pkgs of 25. The drawers are part number 20715 And sold in cartons of 15
