Why can't this ship to CA?

Seriously! It won’t ship to me in Northern California, but they sell these on military bases all over the state.

Can this pass security check at airport?

Have passed thru USA TSA security checks MANY times with this. NEVER a blink or problem. it doesn't have a knife edge so its fine.

Anyone try sharpening the "cutter" (just a bit, I know you don't want a blade) to make the box cutter cut packing tape at least?

I sharpened it a bit with the rod on my smith's pocket sharpener. It works alright as a tape cutter, it's never going to be really sharp but as it's always exposed you probably don't want it to be

Why doesn't this ship to California?

I'm going to guess that its not California Proposition 65 approved.
