Skyscraper - Heroes in All Forms
I loved Skyscraper. It's not Oscar gold and it's not going to have overwhelmingly positive reviews. But what it does well is what The Rock is all about, and that's entertainment. I love that his character is an amputee and despite some of the leaps in logic, it shows that they are just as capable as anyone else to be the hero and he shines in so many moments despite his condition. Furthermore, what I enjoy about this movie the most is Neve Campbell playing The Rock's wife. She comes off as very strong, motherly, but witty & smart. They easily could have written an arm candy wife that was tough (military background) but not meant to do much lifting in the film. However, Neve Campbell essentially is the hero of the movie and I loved it for that, that The Rock's character doesn't hog the spotlight of saving his family and that it was a group/family effort. There is a little humor in the film but the punchlines work really well, and the action sequences are well done. The only gripe I have with the movie is that it's pretty much standard as standard goes, but it's all done so well that you can't help but just enjoy the actors playing the roles in this big-budget disaster action movie. This to me is one of those PG-13 family movies that you watch on special Saturday nights, it's just pure popcorn. The villains are convincing, and The Rock just cannot be stopped. Skyscraper is a treat, and I really loved Rawson's director's commentary talking about those odd ones like me, who watch and try to learn about the films they watch through commentary. He was a delight to listen to, and I hope he continues to do these for upcoming films like Red Notice, once they resume filming. At its current price on 4K, it's a steal as it looks beautiful on a 4KTV. The shots of the skyscraper and cliff-hanging edges really give you a sense of vertigo, very well done.

Just a whole lot of action.
In terms of action movies the pacing for this one was a bit slow at the beginning, but it does pick up and follow the usual formula for these things. I'm not a huge action movie fan myself so I can say that I watched primarily for "The Rock." I was not disappointed. The movie was jam packed with just Johnson being the big burly action hero who also happens to be super smart, MacGyver levels resourceful, and doing it all with a prosthetic leg.Overall, it's a movie to enjoy without getting into the logistics of it or expecting anything overly complicated from the plot. A fun ride from start to finish especially if you're into big explosive action sequences and fancy tech. I did enjoy that his wife was a badass in her own right though I really wished they'd done something with her combat medic training. They mention it briefly while researching his family and it just felt like a very specific detail to shoe-in there without having it come to an fruition. Whether she patches up her husband or one of the security guards that came to try and rescue her and her children, or heck- have her need to patch up herself.

Love this movie ! !
I really respect the concept of the parent's characters ( played by Dwayne & Naomi ); having been realistic in the sense that their Specific characters have not only been " Trained " to remain Calm during emergencies (2 vets of the game); but also within a context Connected to their individual careers , they've seen a lot / been Thru a lot. That adds to the credibility that their Characters carry in terms of evaluating a situation & working to Overcome It. Chances are that within this Type of plot, the characters of the kiddos were most likely trained by the Characters of the parents to face potential emergencies in steps, with clear thinking & by trying to remain calm. (something my friend who has asthma was always taught to do from a young age ; * Relevant bcuz the son in the movie has asthma.) All in all , the movie displays cool Special effects & a cast whose Characters each hold to their Own Personal Aims ; Goals and / or agenda. Whether that Aim is staying alive , or whether the goal is to Protect … or Whether that agenda is to steal, kill & destroy or in contrast to preserve something of Value ; the message is clear that where one's Heart is at ; One's treasure will be found there Also …. * finally, as a side ~ note, I really appreciated that Naomi cambell's character was not a 'Damsel in distress' & yet that she doesn't mind trusting her Hubby & having faith that whatever He did thruout the movie , Was for a Reason. I believe this made her character Solid yet gracious*****
