Huey Fong Sambal Oelek Chili Paste 8 Oz (2 Pack)

Some time ago, I had someone stay at my house for a while. He discovered I had sambal oelek and he went through that jar fast! I just got around to ordering more. I opened the jar and ahh! the fresh chili smell wafted up to my nose. I made a jarful of sweet chili sauce with it and it is so delicious. It's hot but tasty, not something you eat on a dare. It adds that perfect chili taste to Asian and Mexican foods and is great to replace fresh chili peppers if you don't have them on hand.

The flavors of this must be really good -- it is my husbands favorite condiment to add to many different dishes.

Best Asian inspired chili paste ever.

I can't seem to always get this chili paste locally and so I ordered it here. I use this a lot. In a lot of my Asian dips, broths and slaws. It's got some heat, but in my opinion the balance of flavor and heat is perfect. Yum. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. Love this for marinating chicken for stir fry

I know I've bought a big jar a couple of months ago for under $4 and these 2 small jars are more than twice what that big jar was. This stuff must not be in season in August because everywhere I look right now it is really expensive compared to what it was. Did we have another chili pepper draught this year? I do love this stuff though, especially on eggs or in soup. But if the prices don't go back down, I'm back to using Frank's.
