I like hand-axe/hatchets. They are very versatile and portable tools for camping, preparedness, and even minor pruning or landscaping.- At ~14 inches and 2.2 lbs. It’s still portable enough to fit in a pack and long enough to give a decent swing, unlike those little 7 inch axes.- There is no hole for a lanyard, which can be used for hanging, but is also useful to catch the axe if it flies out of you hand. But I suppose I could drill a lanyard hole, though there is a rivet where the hole would be.- The axe is full-tang. Though this adds a little bit of weight for backpack/bush-craft carry, the steel neck and handle is very unlikely to break during chopping….especially compared to the silver cylinder necked basic camp axes- The axe comes reasonably sharp. You may choose to put a razor edge on it, but it comes sharp enough for immediate use.- A nylon sheath was also included, which is an appreciated inclusion for a budget hatchet.- And it comes with a sharpening puck…appreciated.- The axe has a rubber grip and has no “hot spots”.- The cut and finish is good.Bottom Line:This is what you’d expect for a basic camp axe. I still think that this full tang steel axe is a significant step up from the silver cylinder necked basic camp axes, or the little 7 inch one. The length and size is good for a hatchet and this would be a nice item to have for car/weekend camping, and also in a survival situation. So it’s also good for emergency kits.

This is not an ornamental light weight hatchet. It is high quality metal, has a protection enamel type coating on it, non slip handle, and is FULL TANG. Very well made. It is easy to re-sharpen when you need to. It is very well balanced, and the size is just perfect for small jobs. Is very functional. You can use it for chopping branches out of a tree to chopping up kindling. It is a good price for the quality of the hatchet.

My hatchet came without anything you could rightly call a sheath, but instead a small, flimsy bit of rubber over the blade. I used my own sharpener, but I think the included sharpener with two slightly different grains will be fine enough - This hatchet is easy to sharpen. The balance doesn’t match the handle, but is instead about 3/4 of an inch too high, so if you choke up a bit, you won’t be tired out wastefully.Edit: I get a sense from the other reviews that this hatchet doesn’t always come with the same accessories, and that the manufacturer swaps out the pictures on the product page to hide changes they’ve made to what they actually deliver. But the hatchet itself is fine, for the price.

The hatchet I received wasn’t sharp at all, which surprised me because all the reviews I saw were praising how sharp JXE JXO axes were. In the description I remembered seeing a picture with a nylon mask (sheath) pictured with it, the one I received just had a rubber sleeve that goes over the edge. Miraculously the picture I saw (that convinced me to purchase) is nonexistent now.I feel like reviews here are no longer a viable way to know if the product you’re buying is good or not. It feels like this platform cherry picks reviews, but that’s just my opinion from shopping here.

I like that this hatchet is full-tang, and gives every indication of being extremely durable. The coating on the handle is shock-absorbing and provides a good grip. Due to its solid metal construction, it has a good bit of weight to it; I'm not sure I'd want to backpack it too far.It is appropriately sharp for a hatchet.I found it to have a good balance for chopping wood.The ad says that the axe comes with a "sheath". So far as I can tell, they mean the small nylon blade protector that fits over just the blade edge itself. That is nice; I'm glad they include it. However, I think it might be a bit of a stretch to call that a "sheath".For the price, I think this is an excellent hatchet, and I expect I will still be using it for years to come.

I would suggest putting a final hone on it before taking it into the woods, but it really is good to go right out of the box. Should last many a year...

Grabbed this as a tool to help chop up old banana trees for chop and drop fertilizer. Love the stylish look of this axe and size. Weight is perfect and balanced. Sharp blade and durable steel.

I recently went on a quick little camping trip with some friends and this hatchet has been a handy tool. It’s a pretty good size at 14ish inches which makes it small enough to carry easily but also strong enough to handle chopping small logs and branches. The steel blade feels and looks tough and it also seems to be very durable. I say that because it shows no signs of wear or any signs of it really even being used after a quick wipe-down. The handle has a shock-absorbing grip that makes it easier and more comfortable to use for longer periods of time. I also like the way it looks with the grey and black colorway. It looks kind of sleek and the texture feels pretty nice. Also the sheath is a nice little addition for easy carrying. It’s great for light to medium tasks as in small pieces of wood and branches but it’s probably not the best for heavy-duty chopping. Overall it’s a solid hatchet that’s perfect as a nice little all-rounder tool 5/5
