Vicks is my all-time favorite remedy when cold and flu season hits. Whether it’s on the chest, throat, or even the bottoms of the feet with socks, it brings fast relief from congestion, coughing, and all those uncomfortable symptoms. It’s been a staple in my home for years.Surprisingly, it’s also super helpful outside of being sick—like when cleaning out the cat box! Just a small dab under the nose and those unpleasant odors are barely noticeable. It’s a classic product that continues to prove itself time and time again. A must-have in the medicine cabinet!

VapoRub is one of those things my family and I always keep close for a lot of purposes. Aside from being effective for clearing nasal passages when sick, it also works well rubbing a small amount below your nose when cleaning or handling something with a very bad smell that can make you feel sick just smelling it (ie cleaning up vomit or dirty bathrooms). It’s not always necessary to apply it to skin; you can also gently warm it to get the vapor effect. The whole purpose of applying it to skin is often so your body heat can do that but there are also diffusers and such that do the same. Just be wary that animals like cats can get sick from this so take precautions around pets. Don’t diffuse or aerosolize menthol or eucalyptus around pets at all.

All first aid kit should have it. Great for small travel clear containers for trips and everyday. Works well for when sitting near those who put colognes! Or perfumes on with a paint sprayer. A dab or two under nose keeps the stench at bay. Also good for colds.

There ain’t anything else out there that I know of that is as versatile as this product. The smell can be too much for some, but I love it! This is my go to product to use when I am feeling sick. I’ll put a little on my chest when congested and this clears me right up. If I am feeling aches, I’ll coat the bottom of my feet and then put on socks before going to sleep at night, and will wake up in the morning feeling much better. I am sure there are so many other ways to use this product.
