How long can I keep it in the fridge after opening?

You can keep this delicious fermented soybean paste in your fridge for as long as it takes you to eat it all up! It is a fermented product and keeps fermenting even in a cold refrigerator. If you go too long without using it, it may start to dry out a little. Just add a small amount of water and mix well. Also it may start to darken, but that's OK, too. It's a great base for any kind of stew.

According to the back label on the container itself is the statement that the doenjang is produced in Sunchang, South Korea. Also on the back label the manufacturer of the product, Daesang, is in Seoul, South Korea.

Is this product comparable to miso?

This is frequently used as a soup base for a very popular and very authentic Korean soup called doenjang jjigae. It's taste can be very comparable to miso due to the fact that both miso paste and doenjang paste has the main ingredient soybeans. So yes very comparable although doenjang paste has larger chopped pieces of soy beans and may be saltier compared to miso paste. Doenjang paste is also used as a side dish like Chris said but it is very uncommon to be used in this manner by Koreans, unless they have a very low tolerance for the spicier pastes we use. American Korean restaurants will use it in this manner very often though.
