Nice spectrometer for science projects
I think you can use this product for any scientific project in a broad range of applications. I used this spectrometer for analyzing the emissions spectrum of a plasma chamber. It worked great. I was able to automate data acquisition using Python. I think more programming languages are available. The seller was great at helping me and answering my questions. The minimum integration time is about 30ms which I liked a lot. You can monitor a variety of radiative processes with resolution. The spectral bandwidth is not great though. I think this is expected as the wavelength range covers a wide spectrum in visible and near infrared. Overall pleased with the capacity of this cost-effective spectrometer.

Excellent Spectrometer at an unbeatable price
This is a terrific device for teaching and learning about light. It is easy to use and accurate enough to show anyone some of the fundamental properties of light. Every science teacher should have one of these for their classroom. The manufacturer's support for this device, answering questions and providing helpful advice is an added benefit. That an instrument this capable is available at such a low price is just amazing.

Works out of the box
It is giving me what seem to be reasonable accurate readings and that it just works out of the box with the supplied python script, I'd have to say I'm impressed. The windows application (on the supplied USB stick) is simplicity itself: just run the executable and hit the connect to the device button and you'll see real time spectrum scans. The supplied UV light (requires 3 'AAA' batteries - not included) and colored stickers are a nice touch as they allow you to do rudimentary checks immediately. Have other spectrometers that I'll have to test this more rigorously against.

Cost effective cool spectrometer
I am very pleased with the performance of this gadget. The Windows application made things very easy. I used this spectrometer for analyzing the emissions of a plasma and it worked great. Recommend this tool for such an application. It was a very cost-effective solution for this application. Also, this tool can be quickly used for educational purposes. It will give a quick idea to the audience what a spectrometer can do.

Cool gadget!
Cool! I really like this little gadget. The box included an OTG adapter and a UV Lamp and some fluorescent stickers on a plate. It worked instantly when plugged into my Android phone. In a few minutes, I was able to observe the fluorescence spectra using the app I downloaded from the play store. You can clearly see the difference of spectral width between a broad fluorescence and red laser pointer. Very basic phone app, but works nice and does the job!

Just no.
The USB port was completely misaligned in the casing, making the spectrometer unusable right out of the box. Attempting to connect the plug was futile, and it never worked. Very disappointing. I would avoid this product. I gave an extra star due to the ease of return.

Beyond my Expectation
Pros: Easy to use! Accuracy is beyond my expectation for the cost. Both BT and USB connection options make the device easy to use in the lab and in the field. The biggest advantage is teh cost.Cons: USB-C connector on the device loosing connection. Finding correct COM port on the Windows application is not easy and if you chose the wrong one, the app hangs on.Pros outweights the cons.

nice item
The USB port and the fiber-optic port are really too close on the side -- I have large hands so it was a problem. Otherwise, it seems to work ok.
