Love it!
I loved everything about this case! Usually price reflects quality but in this CASE, I got more than i bargained for. I was thrilled when I held it in my hand. The right amount of gripand simplicity combined with quality materials and craftsmanship made this one a true winner. No glitz over cheap plastic. If thats your thing, this is NOT the case for you! Too bad they don't make cases for all of my devices- trust me, I looked. Disclaimer, I have not had any issues so I can't speak to warranty claims or customer service. But since the price is reasonable and if something happened to my beloved speck, I would quickly and without hesitation purchase a new one. And Why? because I love it that much! Function meets quality is the perfect match for me. Try Speck, you wont regret it.

Surf teal fits well
I have avoided Speck military grade as the buttons are too hard to push. On my iPad Speck case I have even cut away the rubber material so you can use the buttons. On this case the buttons are acceptable useable, no complaints. It’s a bit of a bear to take off, but not as much as the iPad to get off. It’s sits well proud over the glass, offering protection. It’s grippy with the ribbing, I was able to mount a metal plate, for magnetic holding, on the back just below the finger sensor, seems to be holding on the flat, spanning over the rib, areas.Dirty, dirt, in the ribbing?Maybe you should wash your hands more often? Have not had that problem. So yes a very good case for a Pixel 2 XL, offers excellent grip, protection, easy soft button use.I would suggest that you remove it if you try to put a screen protector on. The case as I say sits proud over the glass, making it difficult to put a screen protector on, especially if you use the hinge method.Once on, reinstall the case.

though I'll say that some are pretty good and some positively should never have been released
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I have a case fetish, 7 to be precise. I've got the Google Live, Ringke Smoke Bevel, Presidio show, Tech21 EVO Check, Ringke Clear, and a Google fabric. This isn't a review about those, though I'll say that some are pretty good and some positively should never have been released. The Speck Presidio Grip offers excellent drop protection; it is raised in the front so the phone can be put face down without the screen being against a surface; the buttons are crisp and responsive; it doesn't show fingerprints and it's easy to take on and off.None of the other cases I have check all of these boxes that are important to me. Some show off the phone more and some look "cooler" - but they are either nearly impossible to remove without breaking the phone (Tech 21); the buttons are REALLY hard to push (Tech21), can't be put face down (either of the Google cases); don't offer the same level or protection (the two Ringke cases mentioned above) or are fingerprint/scratch magnets (the Presidio Show). So, while I do use the Google cases when want to make a splash, this is my daily driver, I use it 90% of the time. Oh, and I also have the Grey/charcoal one - color is just a matter of personal taste.Great case, had it on my OG Pixel and my Nexus 6P before that.

Great Product, Bought a Second Case After Years of Heavy Use.
Generally very pleased with the product. Very well designed to protect against drops. I'm generally pretty careful with my phone (heck, I spent over a grand on it), and this prevents damage from those few times I'm an idiot. One of those times was me stepping on my phone. Phone was unharmed. The weak point of the case is near the buttons, where there isn't hard plastic all the way around them. Stepping on the case cracked it along that edge with the gaps for the buttons. Even after that, I probably could use it with the crack and it would function fine, the rubber underneath is thick enough to hold it all together. My one complaint is that the rubber for the grip lines on the outside of the hard shell loosened and tore off after sliding in and out of my pants pocket a couple dozen times a day. If that new aesthetic is important to you, it won't last. Then again, the Pixel 2 XL was released in 2017, so if you're worried about something looking new, you're probably buying a newer model.

front edges protect screen face down, even with glass screen protector
awesome grip. much slimmer form factor than heavy duty cases like classic Otterbox or similar. buttons fully covered and easier to push than Speck's sister case, the Presidio Clear. That clear case is also considerably more slippery in the hands vs this Grip case. This grip model's rubber ridges may get dirty looking in any color other than black, as others have mentioned . I got the black color and am confident it'll never look dirty, so that's not an issue for me. the back has enough depth to protect the camera and fingerprint reader. The fingerprint reader surround has a nice bevel to make it easy to use the fingerprint reader. also a big plus is that even with a glass screen protector i have installed, the screen side lip still protrudes enough beyond the glass, it should be safe to put face down on flat surface without scratching screen. highly recommend this Speck Presidio Grip case in black for Google Pixel 2 XL.

This Black Speck stays looking great!
I had a turquoise Speck Cell Phone Case for my Pixel 2 XL. And, yes I know my Pixel is old. However, it works just fine so a clean-looking case was needed. I have had great success with the Speck Cell Phone Case. I dropped it many times and the phone keeps chugging along.

Solid case except for one small section on it....
The case fits well with the phone and is a pleasure to hold because of the construction and grip design. The problem with the case (and why I give it 3 stars) is that there is a small section of material between the usb and chin/screen that is highly prone to breaking. I broke it off 2 days into owning it by just taking it in and out of my pocket. If this was a 10 dollar case than I would have expected it. But I gave $40 for it at the time and is something you don't expect to deal with the first week of owning it.
