For the Audio side only
This works as advertised. I have a newer Sony Oled TV with eARC output but my older Krell surround sound processor is only ARC output. The best I could get with this arrangement was Dolby 5.1. With this device I get the full range uncompressed audio signals you get with eARC delivered to an HDMI input on the Processor

Works well for audio extraction but note no video output
Works nicely to extract audio from of of my TV's eARC HDMI ports to feed active loudspeakers and allows control of the volume using the TV's volume control. However, it does not pass the video through to the HDMI out port and therefore only 4 stars.

Know your existing equipment
I hooked this up, and initially didn't get any sound. After a lot of troubleshooting, it turns out I had to adjust some settings on both my TV and soundbar. In the end, it worked great connecting the optical connection on my soundbar to the eARC connection on my TV.So know your existing equipment and their settings when using this adapter.

E-Arc to optical.....
Used this to try connect a new Samsung TV with E-Arc/Bluetooth output only to a Yamaha soundbar with an optical input. No go, despite trying many combinations. Then i read this Amazon review, which in part readsOld, outdated receiver only has SPDIF fiber optical input. Unfortunately, this device only outputs HDMI audio when connected to TV eARC, dispiate having SPDIF optical out.Sigh.........
