Smokey, but too much rind
When first opened, the product smelled very smoky, but it was an end cut that was literally the end of pork belly. The outer skin rind was thick, tough and chewy and did not render at all. I fried it; bake it and microwaved it. In each sample, the final product was virtually void of any smoky flavor and recognizable bacon flavor. I suspect the smoke flavor was added to the product, after processing, in the form of a liquid. The sodium level at 370mg is not too much for those of us on a low sodium diet, but if you are looking for a great smokey pork belly bacon taste, this is not the product. Keep in mind, the product is not returnable, so if you purchase it, you are stuck with it. All in all, it may have been a different evaluation had the cut been more to the center. But, given what I tasted, I will not order again. Take care and stay safe! - Desert West
