Very compact, travels well, good closing magnets, functional
I am LOVING this small little palette. It is perfect to keep in my bag with me at all times, that is how small and lightweight it is. It's pretty minimal and functional, but that's the whole point. The wood frame is very pretty and smooth. I am confident in the magnets keeping things closed while it’s in my bag but I will probably still add a rubber band or velcro band around it just to be sure- no need to tempt the universe. I appreciate the use of a binder clip to keep the two sides together snugly. It allows me the freedom to not use it and separate the two sides. Also, I can clip it to an easel. So, the little paint cups don’t pop out. This means I can't replace, clean them or switch them out for other colors. I would have really liked the ability to do that- this way I could customize my palette at different times easily. This also concerns me in cleaning the pieces surrounded by wood. Though, it is a *water* color palette and should be fine.Still this is a wonderful little travel watercolor palette and I really recommend it!*I put a penny in the photos for size reference

So portable
Handy little paletts. Magnets could be a little stronger. Put elastic around it. No big problem

It'll do the job
This little palette can be filled with a variety of colors, the mixing area is a good size and easy to clean, and the materials seem like they will hold up. The one flaw is the magnets which are not strong enough to keep the two parts together. It's a little flaw and easily worked around with an elastic band but using stronger magnets would improve design. This is one of three brands of this type of product we've purchased and the best so far. In fact, we bought two of this palette so one could be filled with summer colors and one could be filled with winter colors.

Weak magnets
The pallette seems sturdy and well made, but the magnets that hold it closed are very weak. I don't think I would trust it to not come open in a pocket or bag. Otherwise, it looks just like the picture and is a very portable size. If the strength of the magnets isn't a concern, this seems like a good product.

Travel Friendly
This tiny palette is wonderful and so convenient when painting outside or traveling! I've gotten so many compliments on it! My only issue is the strength of the magnets and the ability to keep itself closed. I had to add a rubber band to secure it, but no big deal. Other than that, it is very convenient

IMO: Needs hinge, for reasons listed
I have wanted one of these cool wooden, compact travel palettes for awhile; but they tended to be expensive. So when Amazon Vine offered me this palette, I was overjoyed, and eagerly jumped at the chance to review it.Except now I’m gripped with indecision. You see, I have so many travel palettes, and through that experience of owning and using them, I’ve gained lots of experience. And that experience tells me that this little wooden palette will possibly give me problems unless I’m very, very careful with my choices. The “problem”, IMO, starts with this palette’s design. It is comprised of two small squares of wood that are designed to connect shut by magnets, and to extend open with the use of a large clip that they have included. There are blank spots in each piece of wood ( which are not magnetized, leaving only three magnetized corners) to accomodate the large ( but not large enough) clip, what appears to be small, white 1/4 sized pans on one piece of wood, and a piece of white acrylic on the other, which is intended as a spot for mixing paint. It is my opinion that this is one of the areas where the design would be improved by adding a hinge to open and shut the two wooden slices: Not only would this provide more room for another 1/4 pan on the pan side of the palette; it would also provide more room for a slightly larger mixing space.Adding hinges instead of the clip can also make this palette more securely shut, especially in transit. The magnets used here are strong enough to connect the two sides, but the corners designed to accomodate the clip do NOT have magnets; which leaves the entire palette off balance and insecure, regardless of whether it is open or shut. It also leaves a slight gap when the palette is shut, which presents a problem for me. I have invested a respectable sum of money into my watercolor paints. While I have heard it said that professional paint, when hand poured by the artist, do not crack; I have discovered that this is not necessarily true. I have at least one brand of pro watercolors that have cracked on me before. Then, I also have some paints that are made with honey that have slid around some in palettes before. So, if you put all of this together and analyze the situation, maybe you can understand why I have decided that the situation has been made more complicated than what I would have preferred: now, I’m limited to use only the paint that has never shown these unfortunate characteristics. I’d be afraid to pour the paints I actually need this palette for, because I’d be concerned if the paint cracked or slid around from its pans that the gap where the clip is intended will allow the paint to fall out or make a mess. Moreover, the clip does not hold the two pieces of wood together securely. The two sides flop around when the palette is open. In fact the two spots designed to accomodate a clip are too large for the clip that was included, and even when I tried to rectify this by supplying an appropriate sized clip myself, I was surprised to discover that the areas provided in both squares appeared to be a spot that was either too large or too small for any of the regular clips that I have here. From what I have read by Amazon reviewers over the years is that most customers aren’t thrilled by pans, palettes, or palette components that jiggle or move. Most artists I have heard or read have expressed a preference for such things to be secured in place. So, there it is. In my opinion, I think you have a really pretty wooden travel palette. However, I think it would be greatly improved by using stronger magnets on one side, on the other, a hinge to open and shut the two pieces of wood. Ditch the clip, and in its place, add another quarter pan and expand the white acrylic blending area. Make sure that when it is shut, there are no gaps for paint to escape. As for me, I’ll probably wind up adding my own hinge, or rubber bands, and some kind of case, just in case. And keep on the look out for a clip that fits better than the clip that was included.
