surprised they dont sell this at AutoZone.and i think the dealership wants like 4x the price of this one for OEM.even my junkyard is asking for more for a used one..this one is just as good. affordable. everything works now. quality looks OEM. fit good.the latch securely locks.no more zipties on my trunk.and apologies to the family i had to kick out my car when i was ubering because my trunk couldnt lock

It took me a bit longer to install this than others have said, but I am slow at almost everything and, at 74, it took me almost as long to get into and out of my trunk as it did to install the part. I had it installed and working perfectly in less than 2 hours, even with no instructions (that I remember seeing). YouTube was my savior (once again). Thank goodness for folding back seats. My original trunk latch worked fine, but the interior (trunk) light wouldn't come on when I opened the trunk. I searched all over the trunk with a flashlight and the internet with a mouse to try to find the location of the light switch. After a couple of days of searching and even joining an Optima fan club (Forum?), which was a waste of and time, I figured out that the switch was INSIDE the latch mechanism itself, SMH. As others have said, it was a perfect fit for my 2016 Optima. All the parts that made up the latch seemed to be well made. I recommend this latch without reservations. It'll save you hundreds in repair costs. You just have to be able to work upside down or crawl inside your trunk.
