Can't decide which is better... customer service or the Mezzaluna chopper
OK... last Saturday my husband and I stopped by the well known sub shop, and opted to split a salad. We watched them use a large bowl and chopper and my imagination took flight... I want one of those! We have a garden of fresh veggies this time of year. Came home and saw that the awesome Amazon Prime could get me one by Monday. I looked through all of the Mezzuluna choppers and decided on this one...I like the solid one piece protective cover for storing and I also liked that the blades looked wide enough apart not to trap the food.It came Monday and the rest is history. I use a large (12 cup) hard plastic bowl. I chop my greens first and put in another bowl. Then I chop carrots, radishes, and anything else that is hard. Place these on top of the greens. Slice tomatoes first, or the skin will not cut well, then chop along with any soft veggies like cukes, peppers, etc. Add to rest of salad. Chop sliced meat, eggs, whatever else last and top off the salad. Remember to rotate the bowl as you chop. That makes it go so much faster! Stir it all together if you want. Mezzaluna rinses clean in soapy water. Keep your fingers away from those blades. Instead of storing in a drawer, I put mine up with the knives on a magnetic strip. You get an excellent pdf file salad cookbook from the company also, and they will answer all your questions in a thoughful and timely manner. I am thrilled... totally! Hope you will be also..

Works wonders - a fantastic tool
I routinely make very large salads - I use a serving bowl to eat them they are so large!Kale is a favored green of mine. Anyone who eats Kale knows how 'bunchy' it comes. Quite a pain to chop up/shred by hand or by knife. This thing cuts right through everything I have thrown it - Kale no exception. Yes, you have to use force, but not a herculean force. The quality of the material seems nice; the right weight. Very easy to clean. I absolutely love it.

Now it's easy to chiffonade
Works like a rocker knife. While I have a fantastic knife set, and a steel cutting glove for protection, I'm not the best when it comes to chopping leafy items (basil, lettuce, etc) finely. When I use one of my knives, I inevitably push things all over the cutting board and constantly have to regather. This makes the job SO easy. Very easy to clean and the storage shield has an exact fit, similar to the safe feeling l get when storing my knives in their block.

Works, but safety is an issue
We were excited to use this salad chopper since we LOVE the salads at Chopt and are trying to eat more salads at home. This salad chopper does the job; it chops through veggies easily. Sometimes you gotta put some elbow grease into it, but nothing that surprised me. (if you are chopping a full piece of chicken breast, then obviously you will need to push down hard). That sad, the design of the chopper seems to lend itself to danger. The cap that goes on top of the sharp edges is a great way to protect your hands when you are storing the item, BUT putting the cap on is challenging. To put the cap on, you basically need to hold both sides of the chopper and push inwards, then place the cap on top. You can imagine what could go wrong. The chopper itself is rather large, so it is very challenging to be able to push both sides inwards without running the risk of it slipping and cutting your hand.I like the chopper and will continue using it since it does the trick....but please be extra careful when storing the item/putting the cap on.I reached out to the seller about this and they just told me to push inwards, which I already knew, but it didnt seem like they cared about the safety issue.

Great at what it does!
I bought this to be able to easily make chopped salads at home. I hated struggling using a knife and fork to try to cut up salads and bought this to simplify the task. It has a nice wide rounded grip that is easy to grasp and get a good hold on. There are two sharp parallel blades which are curved to make it easier to match the contours of a bowl if you want to chop the salad in a large mixing bowl. You could also use it on a flat surface and simply roll the blades back and forth. The blades cut well and whatever bits gets stuck on the blades as you cut can be easily slid off with a fork given the width of the gap between the blades. I'd highly recommend this for anyone looking to chop up salads on their own.
