Great dictionary at a great price as well.

I bought this for my Yr3 (8 year old) child who loves to independently read Jacqueline Wilson books but often comes across words she doesn't know. She finds the dictionary easy and enjoyable to use. The descriptions are very simple and clear and the alphabet tabs down the page edge really help her when trying to find words and having to think about alphabetical order.I gave it 4 stars because we've only had the dictionary for 2 days and already she came across a word in her reading which isn't in the dictionary: barmy. I don't think it's that unusual or grown up to not appear in a primary dictionary.I hope there won't be lots more words that we don't find because on the whole it's a great resource for this age group

When I was searching for a dictionary for my kids I was seriously struggling with all the editions and all the various options available. Thankfully my youngest happened to mention that they used this one in school, so that stopped all my searching and I was able to order one of these.Since it had arrived it has been great use. My kids have daily vocabulary words they need to learn the meanings of, and this gives nice easy to understand meanings for them.

Great dictionary for kids. I bought it for my 9yr old son. He likes it and finds it easy to use (well, easy enough - he is just learning how to use a dictionary after all!). The alphabet is written on each page which is great to help in deciding if you need to go forwards or backwards in the book to find your word. Obviously it doesn't have ALL the words in the English language, but a child this age would only find that offputting, so this is a very manageable dictionary.
