Really excellent
I recently moved home from a house, where I had a fully-spec'd Dolby surround sound system with ceiling mounted Speakercraft speakers and a Yamaha subwoofer, to an apartment where such a setup is simply impossible. I did a lot of reading about the various soundbars available, and decided that I had to buy a very good quality Dolby Atmos unit to compensate for not having a full home theatre system anymore. What attracted me to this model is that it is an Atmos soundbar but the speakers are detachable and can be placed behind the viewer wirelessly, working on Bluetooth for the signal. The price of the Bar 1000 is high; anywhere between £800 and £1000, depending on where you buy it. Amazon had the best price and I decided to bite the bullet and buy one. It was a good decision. The performance of this exceeded my expectation. The rear speakers and the subwoofer are Bluetooth enabled and they connected instantly on first set up. The subwoofer is very impressive with a powerful well-rounded bass response that, at high volume is too strong for most installations. I don't run the subwoofer at a very high level and I am fortunate that my apartment block is well built with concrete floors and I am pleased to report that I am assured by my neighbours below me that they are not disturbed by the noise level. The detachable speakers, when attached to the soundbar, work as upward and forward-firing speakers, giving the Dolby Atmos featured sound. These speakers recharge their internal batteries when the soundbar is not in use (ie on standby) and a little red light on the front of each shows that charging is taking place. If you detach the speakers and place them behind where you are sitting, then each needs either to be connected to a USB charger or they need to be put back into the sound bar to recharge.I found that in use, these speakers give only two evenings' worth of performance before they need to be placed back into the bar to recharge. This is a pain in the derrière and so I found two spare chargers and they are now permanently connected to the mains and are being recharged automatically after each use.The sound quality from the central bar and the two detachables is pleasantly bright and clear. JBL boast some AI magic that identifies speech and applies EQ to those frequencies so that dialogue is clearer than with other systems. I can attest that this works, although it doesn't compensate completely for lazy actors who mumble and can't project their voices properly. But it certainly makes dialogue clearer. The soundbar is controllable with a remote control that allows you to set the volume of the rear speakers from between Low, Medium and High - a rather coarse distinction - or to silence them completely. Believe it or not you do need sometimes to silence them because when watching something with a simple stereo signal, some internal jiggery-pokery sends some of the sound to the rear speakers, which can be irritating. The remote also allows you to set the degree of surround sound you want and to increase or decrease the bass from the subwoofer. However, the real control comes from a downloadable app that has a graphic equaliser, which gives you much more granular control over the frequency range. In use, I found this soundbar very, very pleasing. It definitely enhances my enjoyment of films and TV programmes that have a well balanced sound track, and the ambient noise in such things as street scenes is immersive.Because of lack of space, I also no longer have a HiFi system, but am using the auxiliary inputs to this soundbar for my CD player and my turntable. These inputs are three HDMI ports and an optical audio socket. The turntable needed a pre-amplifier from its phono output but both the CD player and the turntable can be listened to through the soundbar and the TV does not have to be on. To my ears the CD player through the HDMI port sounds good but the turntable, through the optical input, sounds a bit lacking in bass or presence; I will have to try using an HDMI adapter so see whether the vinyl sounds are better that way.In all, a really, really good soundbar and one that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Amazing sound quality
Well what can I say . This system is amazing . The set up was really easy and the jbl one app is very user friendly .The sound quality is out of this world .After testing with a few films of different genres and some music as well as a few atmos tests from youtube , I can safely say that this system is a heavy hitter. The speech quality is crisp and clear , there's no distortion I can detect in overall sound and the huge base unit is a monster . .if I had the base on full I think it would shake parts of the house apart , I've got the setting on 2 ot of 5 ,more than enough. The wireless satellite speakers are very easy to set up and auto calibrate, saving lots of time on manual calibration for distance and sound delay and the tiny brackets are simple to install..the rear speakers simply slot in and out of the brackets. The equaliser on the JBL one app is brilliant and I have the atmos range on mid ...simple to understand as low is for low ceiling , mid for high ceiling and im guessing high must be for a cathedral, haha .I'm just blown away with this and I am a very happy chappy and so is my wife , who is usually not fussed about these things .I would recommend this to anyone and mangaged to get this for a steal at £780 plus £5 postage.Delivery was swift by UPs and the packaging for this was spot on.If you are wanting a real cinema experience and also want to be able to clearly hear speech as well as everything else then go ahead and get this .If you're skeptical then read independent reviews and you tube vids on this..Bose and sonos really need to think twice about the huge prices they charge as this bad boy punches massively above its weight for the price.Don't miss out and get one if you're in the market for an amazing surround sound experience . Superb.Ps I have this hooked up to a Philips 65inch oled 120hz ..who needs to go to the cinema with this set up.

Very poor
A very poor product, sound quality is terrible considering the price point. No clear separation in voices so much bleeds over into the rear speakers .Contacted JBL tech support ( very poor experience with days between emails ) told do a software update as a stock answer. When I done the software update the first time the subwoofer lost half its punch and power of the out the box experience. Software cannot be rolled back either! Finally the echo and lip sync issues watching tv programs is infuriating, my lg tv has numerous options to solve lip sync issues with sound bars but could not resolve this bars issues. After a month and a lot of hassle it was returned . I cannot recommend and with so many barely / pre used ones for sale I can imagine other buyers have similar issues. One to avoid, it’s also put me right off JBL products, once a very good company no longer the case for product quality or product support

Great sound, great surround, great adjustable base
The suround sound stage is awesome and powerful even with no surround signal broadcast, my mind is blown by the sound this bar reproduces even with the rears attached to the bar the surround effect is brilliant, it leaves me feeling I have invisible speakers set up all around me.It's not the easiest to set up as you first need to connect it with your WiFi Internet but once connected you can make lots of adjustments including a good eq sound gradient for fine adjustments to the sound, you have a remote but you have more control with the download app on your mobile
