* Updated review:Built in mic is OK, but if you want to be any distance away, a wireless mic is needed. Off the shelf external mics/adapter cables won't work. Their USB Mic port is not USB standard wiring. Call/email customer support and they can sell you a propitiatory adapter cable with cheap wireless mic for next to nothing. It's not shown on their website anywhere. 4 stars because I think they should include the adapter cable with the camera. For what they sell them via customer service, with a generic wireless mic, they could put the cable in for just a few extra dollars.Battery lasted almost 2 hrs before needing to be recharged. It also appears to work OK running off an external power bank.

I found this camera a great economical option for doing chassis / undercarriage perspective videos while attached to moving vehicles. When combined with a magnetic mount option, and the Akaso iPhone app, you can preview the view from within the app live, and then activate record remotely only for the footage/views you want to capture. It's small, water resistant, and rugged enough to handle this role even in rain or snow conditions. The remote view in the app requires connecting to the camera over it's built-in WiFi, which will deplete the battery energy at a faster rate.

Purchased this camera to take on a cruise this summer. So far we’ve been using it around the house and my 4 year old daughter has been taking lots of pictures and videos. The buttons are a little hard for her to push like the shutter and the button to switch from back screen to front, but she uses the remote that came with the camera that acts as a shutter with no issues!

I had a 4 but it's gone into hiding and the optical zoom was absolutely appealing (though notice no mechanic sounds, and have not checked video on a big screen)The 7 camera is absolutely more solid (& heavier) than the 4 and seemingly fir climate tolerant as far as moisture and dust ... though not water proof without the extra case (that's fine).However ... 4* is the best I can do, and on a 5* system almost generous.* the power button is difficult to operate (clearly using fingernail is not condusive to long life)* the menu, to put it plainly 'sucks' ... it was way better on the 4* requiring a capcha link instruction download is not of interest to me* while I managed the front/back screen switch twice .... I still don't know how (not important to me)* the 4 had video length options ... have not found a way other than seemingly default 10min on this 7* don't recall on 4 (likely too), but on the 7, it needs to be taken off the mount for the battery compartment to open* new SD chip location is dificult .... inserts better with battery removed* battery life is questionable ... got 45 min on test run .... thats short .. the 4 did 90 min + ... definatelly getting another 4 ... cheaper and largely 'better' except for it's uncased self protection
