Great product
Smells unusual but not necessarily bad. Really helped ease my dogs itchy dry skin until we could get her to a vet. Good lather and left her coat very shiny and visibly clean too

Johnstone skin calm shampoo
I used this on my little Shih Tzu yesterday when it arrived. He appeared to be very itch on his back area and had scratched himself quite a bit. He had lots of dry flaky skin on his back.I saw the shampoo on here and decided to give it a try. The smell reminds me of vosene shampoo. I have to say so far I'm delighted as to how well it appears to have worked. He is not scratching anywhere near as much and in my book that's a definite plus. I shall use it again in 2 weeks when I wash him again. I would 💯 recommend to give this a try if you have a very itchy dog 🐕

Works for dandruff first time, smell could be nicer
My dog (short coat) came home with dandruff and shedding due to staying outdoors at kennels. The shampoo did the job for us and it was all cleared in a single wash. The only improvement would be the smell - it smells quite medicated. Not the end of the world, but I'd prefer something more neutral. Not a dealbreaker, as you can just use scented spray after.

This shampoo was the only thing that really worked for my westie Albi
This is the 1st time I have ever left a review for anything but I really want to share my story.I have a 12 year old westie called Albi who has over the past 3 months developed a bad skin condition were he has scratched non-stop making his skin very sore and red. His hair has thinned greatly and the pink colour of his skin has turned black in patches, he also had brown scaly skin flakeson his sides, tummy and neck. Albi has never ever had any skin conditions in his 12 years which I know is very unusual for westies. I have tried so many products to try and combat Albi's skin issues but absolutely nothing worked until I purchased this very cheap dog shampoo. I have tried various creams, sprays and shampoos some of which sounded very promising, the Coatex shampoo I used was nearly £26 and worked a little to lift the scabs and dry skin flakes but Albi kept on scratching. I have had many a sleepless night hoping and praying that something would work, I thought I would give this 'skin calm' coal tar & sulphur shampoo because I read some of the great reviews in my search for a cure. I gave it a go because I had nothing to lose.......Albi stopped scratching immediately after 1 shampoo and has not looked back. I use just ordinary Germolene antiseptic cream daily and rub it on every scab, crust or sore red spot which has an antispetic and an anaesthetic which helps numb the itchy feeling, I use the germolene every day, then after 3-4 days I shampooed him with this coal tar & sulphur shampoo because his fur is all gunked up with germolene by then. I also used an empty spray bottle and emptied a whole tube of germolene mixed with a little cooled boiled water to create a thick liquid, when Albi had a go at a certain part of his body I would just give it a light spray which helped a lot. I feel like we finally have things under control, no more ripping at his skin and the constant scratting has completely ceased, no exaggeration at all. If you are reading this review then you are looking for a cure the same as I was, it is amazing the difference it has made and I cannot recommend it enough along with the germolene regime. Both items will cost less than £5 which is incredible in this day and age. I did not want to go down the Vets route as I believe it is a complete racket, now Albi is much happier and nice and calm thank goodness, it broke my heart to see him like that because his welfare and happiness is so important to me. I really hope this helps another pet owner in the same situation as I was.

Good shampoo, but too strong smell
Didn't like the colour or smell but it certainly cleans a smelly dog

Soft and shiny coat and helps dry skin.
This lathers really well in the diluted solution required on instructions. It seemed to help my dog’s skin and left her coat soft and shiny. I took one star off for the smell. It’s quite a medicated smell which lingers for a few days. It’s not awful but not the nicest smell.
