This came with the USB power cord which I didn’t expect because it wasn’t in the ad.
This worked perfectly to buy digital TV up to my old analog amplifier. It was no problem to hook it up and I am amazed at the sound quality. Very good buy for the price!

Product OK but not for my set up
Product did not work for my application but not the fault of the product. I have a 5.1 sound system and the instructions say to choose the PCM format in the TV settings. My TV does not provide a PCM audio out to accommodate this converter.

Works Perfect
I wanted to connect my newer TV to my old stereo tuner and speakers so I can hear my TV through my stereo speakers. The instructions are clear and easy to follow I hooked it up and it works and sounds great. When you use the tuner you have to use the volume on the tuner. I would definitely recommend it.

clearer dialogue and yes it comes with USB power cord
Works just fine connecting a not-brand-new Roku TV to an old-school stereo receiver. Wanted clearer dialogue and it seems to provide that, although both Netflix and Hulu audio settings offer only "High Treble" mode whether system audio selects DTS or Dolby. But the bass can be kicked up via the receiver.Although photos are inconsistent (some show a 4th cable, others only show 3 cables)--it does need to be plugged into a USB port on the back of the TV, and it does come with the USB cord. So there are a total of 4 cables: the optical audio that plugs into the TV, the USB that also plugs into the TV, and the red and white plugs that go into the Left and Right "audio in" ports in the receiver.Only drawback: now the Roku remote no longer controls audio volume and mute, the receiver remote controls volume and mute--so we need to jockey 2 remotes. We'll see if it's worth it but so far the dialogue is clearer without losing music and SFX, for $13 not bad. (PS, I did not receive this product free, I paid the listed price.)

Junk
Started off fine for the first two days. After that every time I would start my system up there would be no sound. It is ridiculous that you have to unplug the power source and plug it back in to get sound back. (UPDATE) After one month it stopped working during a move. Now I have to remove all of my zip ties to replace this piece of junk!

Works OK But !!!
The door to the optical port popped out when removing the cord. Only the second time setting up the convertor. The unit is still usable but I have to be careful because plug is no longer locked in. The door was part of the retaining mechanism

So, I've a problem
I needed to plug my speakers into my TV, speakers are quality and I use them for recording music and small gigs, thing is these speakers have a rca and XLR inputs and outputs, most modern tvs now either use wireless Bluetooth, hdmi to home audio equipment or optical, no rca outputs.Luckily through this simple device, I was able to split the optical into rca, plug my rca into my bass input with 2 rca cables output to my tweeters, subsequently giving me a 5.1 surround system. This product made that possible..now I'm in a theater of sound. Great product. Does exactly what's it supposed too, no fuss. Plug and play.Recommended
