Is the tool hollow? I need to pass the motor cable in the tool. Thanks

Same here. I got this model because it had a hole in the cap to route my rear motor phase wires through. The hole is a little tight, but fits fine if you remove the temp/phase sensor wires connector and re-attach it after you're all done and feed your phase wire connectors through one at a time.

What size socket/wrench will fit this tool?

a 1" socket, 1" wrench, or a adjustable wrench that opens at least 1" will all fit.

Would this work as good as an fr-1 tool?

There are different removers for different freewheels you have to count the splines to know. Go to park tool website and check out info and video
