Does good job cleaning carpet.
This is second Dyson I have paid for in 25yrs. What I do is keep eye out for is dump ones outside people's houses.Yes I am a 'stig of dump'.I always ask them can I have it. Take home to repair or use as replacement parts to fix another one.At one stranded had 4 storaged up in loft.Sold some and gave one to mate.Long as you clean filters ( 2 ) out regularly by washing under tap. Then leave to dry out. I have spare ones. So I just swap over . That way you are not waiting for filters to dry. You can get on with vacuum up. Must clean more often especially vacuum up fine dust (like talcum powder) from sanding down doors etc.. Must be clean more often. This is important .If not it can over heat and can burn out main motor. Been there done that.....Not over tightened power cable ( wear away outer grey cable over time ) when storage it away ..... Don't over fill waste/dust container. This blocks up and can cause damaged to main motor....Clean out internal cavity of yellow section inside plastic see through waste container....Also watch out for long threads on carpet. This is important. They go into front brush section. Cause it to jam and burn out mini motor. (You can see on U /Tube how to repair/ replace parts). Which needs to be replaced.....Some times rubber belt snaps as well... .They should last years. If look after properly. Don't lend to a neighbour or friend. They usually end up braking it ( dropping it down the stairs. It's only cheap plastic. It will brake easily ) Or lossing parts of vacuum .The joys of little kids. They have habit of playing with Dyson take it apart and hiding the part. Then forgetting where they put bloody thing. If you are unable to repair or get right replacement parts. Keep bursted one for spares and go out and get new one or good second hand one.Now if I was working at Dyson. I would tell them to increase in size the waste/dust container. That way saves trips to outside bin to empty. I am a guy and lazy ( what I do at first is use small metal bin.Empty into that and get on with to vacuum up. Or later on I started to use another spare waste/ dust container and just swap/change over ). Also longer power cable. It always seems to be 6 feet to short. When you go from one room to another. With out unplugging it and replugging it in next room.Or cleaning up/down long stairs .Told you I am lazy.Last thing I use velcrow patch to attach a mini torch-light to the brush front section to see under beds when hooving etc. Work easier not harder.Get spare brush motor ,belt and filters.Look after it and it will not let you down. Also it's British company.

So far so good
I had an earlier model that lasted 10yrs. This seems quieter and more powerful. Time will tell how long it lasts.

Brilliant hoover , takes getting used
I had the Pet V8 which was good but started to give up the ghost, so I took the Pet upright.Taking out of its box was easy, just clips together and it’s ready to go.The good points;Picks up better, than cordless, obviously with more power you, are gonna get a better hoover, but even I was surprised. All the attachments fit on the hoover, this takes a bit of getting used to, but you do forget about it.Extra long power cord, can hoover all down stairs without unpluggingLong hose attachment, I can leave the hoover down stairs and clean all the way to the top, without having to carry halfway.Noise levels, after the cordless which has the motor on the top, and can be deafening on full power, this made a welcome change.Different suction for different flooring, as a household that has carpet and Lino you can really feel, the differenceThe Bad Points; The weight, it is heavy when you push along, and carrying upstairs you will notice the difference if you’re used to a cordless.Handle; feels like it’s the wrong way around, should be towards you, not away fromExtended pipe, great for stairs and up high, however you can’t shrink it down, so cleaning upholstery is very tricky compared to the cordless, which is like a handheld.Ball; makes very difficult to impossible to get under beds, cabinets etc.All in all, a very good hoover, especially for pet owners, and for removing dirt , dust and even some debris, if you can get over the weight issue, I’d definitely invest, with its bad points, it definitely loses one star, and I’m not prepared to give up my cordless, just yet.

I Want My Old Dyson Back
We only bought this because the plastic chassis on our trusty old Dyson gave out under the handle and made it unusable. Otherwise it is still working fine (I'm still trying to think of a way to repair it).Firstly lets get the one positive out of the way. They fixed the longstanding problem with the extension tube splitting by putting a very sensible joint in. Now that's as far as the compliments go. On the down side the dust canister is little more than half the size meaning far more unnecessary stops, the machine is considerably less powerful than the old one meaning it takes twice as long to clean the same area and worse still because of a narrowing of the tubes and the airflow design its forever getting blocked (and there are a number of choke points) meaning that what once might have been a 10 minute job more often than not is taking half an hour.I get the need for energy efficiency. I get the desire to make things as light as possible but if that makes the job significantly longer and harder its a false economy. I need a heavy duty domestic machine not some relatively flimsy pretty accessory and sadly this is no better than a Shark but without the benefits of a Shark (being a ball design). I WANT MY OLD DYSON BACK!!!!Net result when I need a replacement for this machine and I doubt it will last anywhere near as long (thankfully) as the old one I will take a long hard look at the market rather than just return to Dyson because frankly they've blown their reputation with me with this one. This is one time I really do wish a product 'sucked' but this one doesn't anywhere near as well as it should!
