Versatile and Accurate
A good and versatile depth gauge for DIY use. The lightweight construction may not suit professional use but I have found it accurate and useful on many occasions. The U shape gives a stable base when measuring and small magnets in the feet assist when using on steel. A depth pin is stored on the body and can be used to measure the depth of small holes up to 50mm deep. The gauge can be zeroed at any depth to enable relative depths to be measured. A very useful device.

Accurate out of the box.
There's a few reviews saying that the plastic legs are a bit flimsy so I was dubious on ordering this. They seem perfectly stable to me. I wasn't expecting cast alloy for £15, especially from trend, the build is accurate enough for its use. The gauge is at perfect zero out of the box, (with the small debate clip removed). Everything lines up as it should but can be calibrated to zero even if it wasn't. I put off buying it because of some of the reviews but I wish I'd bought it earlier. Very useful.

Not outstanding, but not bad
It is a little flimsy as others have said. I've got used to it and can make it work for me with no difficulty. I'm using it to adjust the fence and bits of a homemade router table and am happy with the accuracy it allows me. My only real gripe is that sometimes the lock screw moves the scale when you tighten it, not very much, and not enough to be a problem for me. I expect this to get worse over time though, as the scale is plastic and the screw is metal, so some wear is bound to affect it sooner or later. I'll certainly look for something better if and when it needs replacing. It's ok but, I expected better from Trend.

Handy little thing this
OK, this is a really handy little thing - it genuinely does make setting plunge depths and fence positions on the router far, far quicker and easier than struggling on with using a simple steel rule - but you can also use it as a short marking gauge.4 stars rather than five because it does just feel *cheap* (the plastic feels very plasticky and brittle, but I guess at this price that's to be expected), and if the rule had been longer it could have been used for negative depths as well (gauging that rebate you cut with the mitre saw for example, or even as a double check on the groove you just cut with the router).Other than that, I really can't complain - well worth the buy.
