This product is used to freshen up the shoes, not to change colour. This colour is suitable for black shoes. If you want to change colour, I suggest you used the Kaps dye.

would this turn my white converse black ?

It's basically pitch black ink. (Not sure what "freshening up" means) but it basically dyes everything it touches black, including white shoelaces. I used it to convert my light grey shoes to black - looks great. Not super easy to do, as you probably want to keep your soles white (?) but definitely doable.
