Get the most expensive protect plan to start with
Actual equipment was easy to install and connect to WiFi a set up there was no issues with that at all however getting a person from there support department on the phone proved to be a issue it’s automated an it says they will call u back when someone is available but unfortunately in my case it took a day or two before I actually got to talk to someone an the person I talked to could barely speak English an could barely understand me an all I needed was the certificate saying I have 24 hour smoke monitoring I have to have that its the only reason I chose X Sense because the add says I can print a certificate from my app on my phone and very convenient if that was true however I later come to find out that I have to have a certain monitoring package to get the certificate option so then I spent more of my hard earned money for the package that offers the certificate an then still could not get the certificate becouse come to find out I have to deactivate the first monitoring package an take off the devices ( smoke detectors ) from that pack then add them to the new package then I tried to do that an for the life of me I could not remove the detectors from that one to add them to the new one so again I called for the like 5th time an then some time later they found the time to call me back and again could barely understand the guy an him me but anyways he then informed me that I have to remove the old service plan an activate the new one an then add the devices so then again I try to get them added an again no luck could not figure it out so as I write this lovely review I do not have a activated service plan or monitoring package which ever you call it an my devices are still added to the first plan that I paid for first so now I don’t actually know if my smoke detectors are being monitored or not I know they work great an to just clarify I’m sure all this is just user error I do not believe it is the equipment at all they are perfect love the size an the control in the app I have with them however I do believe X Sense could make the certificate available for all packages not just the most expensive one an they should make clear that starting up you have to but the best monitoring plan to have access to print a certificate I believe they count on people buying the mid level package an then realize they have to have the bigger one to get the certificate so then they also have to buy the other one that’s the way it seems anyway in the end I paid for the base station and five smoke detectors and them had to pay for a monitoring plan then had to pay for another plan then ended up buying the same plan again lol so in the end I got aggravated with it an I got Vivint installed in my house an I didn’t have to do anything lol but an then to add a little icing on the cake today the day after I get Vivint I look on my Amazon app where I bought X Sense from an now it’s a couple days past the return time limit lol so eased money all around for me now I’m stuck with X Sense an not using it but again I want to make clear the system an equipment seems to work perfectly fine an nice an small good design love the look of them way better the these new ones but I just couldn’t figure out the logistics an I’m sure it’s all my fault however I do believe they could make the addition an subtraction of the devices a lot easier even if there is more then one plan payed for so in short very good nice product an easy to install an works great an looks cute but just go with the most expensive monitoring plan from the start it’s only literally a couple dollars more then the other don’t be chap like me an try to save a couple dollars I think if I would have chose that one from the beginning I would not have Vivint but it is what it is but I do recommend very muchThank You,Shannon J MaynardP.S,They also could make sure the lovely people in the call center they use for customer service can speak English an understand English a tad bit better i get that a lot of companies have to like contact that kind of stuff out sometimes over seas to save money I get it an understand however theu could hire people that speak English a little bit better or get English lessons for said employees just a thought but can’t say anything bad about the product just my experience but probably all my fault lol

Peace of mind and truly works
We replaced our basic alarms with a 5-alarm set, mainly for peace of mind. We have a pup and we wanted to get alerts if anything happened while we’re both out. Over a year later, we’d tested them regularly but you never REALLY know if it’s going to work when you need it. Well, it did. Fortunately I was at home, but our dishwasher element apparently died and started to smolder during the sanitize cycle. It filled with steam and smoke. When we knew something was wrong we had to open the door to shut it off and it all came rushing out. All the alarms are linked and went off immediately. We also immediately got the emergency notification on our phones telling us which alarm triggered. It was obviously startling, but that’s the point. Our pup was scared from the noise but it was super easy to silence all the alarms within seconds. We aired the house out immediately, and 9 minutes after the event, the app sent us another notification saying the smoke concentration had dropped below the alarm’s threshold. Ok, that’s cool. And I know it was 9 minutes because it’s all there in the app event log. Thankfully it was a very small incident that did no damage, but I feel very safe and confident truly knowing they do exactly what they’re supposed to when it matters. Having a log and being able to demonstrate that an incident actually happened if I ever need it is unexpected and awesome. PS, it’s over a year since we put these up and the battery levels are still full (also in the app). Yeah. These work.

Reacts quickly to smoke, very loud, app is a plus
Linked smoke and carbon monoxide detectors work as they should. Fast response to smoke and very loud. App function is very quick, alerting you to an incident via your phone when you are away. Easy setup. Detectors are smaller than traditional ones and less obtrusive.

Good detector, gimmicky app
They seem to work well, but the app is a little gimmicky

Amazing battery-powered tech + a great app
Transitioned a bunch of First Alert smoke detectors that were hardwired with 9v Battery Backup. To cover the electrical box because they are so tiny, I ended up adapting these tiny devices by using a blank wall plate. I aligned one hole where the screw goes through the plate into the electrical box and then drilled through the plate and pop-riveted the detector mounting plate onto it, as shown in the attached picture. Not too fond of it being off center, but that seemed like the simplest way and who really looks at stuff on the ceiling. The app support has been great for the weeks since I installed everything this and adding devices was super easy. It's really nice to be able to silence an alarm from the app. I will be super impressed if the batteries actually last 10 years, but even if they only last 5, that is still way better than typical 9v battery life.I purchased 10 of these along with a combo CO/smoke detector, standalone plug-in CO detector and my favorite X-Sense device... Their mailbox sensor 🙂

Very well designed product line
Our 5 new x-sense smoke detectors link together via wireless with a strong signal thru several walls and floors and to the web thru WIFI. I wanted this because the house is rather large with a garage. If a fire were to start in the garage at night we might not hear the old stand-alone alarm. The X-sense alarms all 5 detectors, waking up any one in the house before the fire would have time to grow. It also alarms to smart phones, which is handy in case you are not home.In addition, x-sense offers water leak detectors and room temperature/relative humidity sensors. These can all be monitored using the same app along with the smoke detectors - up to a total of 10 sensors. So, any time there is smoke, a water leak or temperatures dangerously low or high, an alarm appears on my smart phone - a good feature for times we are away. The app is very easy and quick to use. There was no fee to set up the account. If you have natural gas or oil or propane, it would be wise to get the smoke/carbon monoxide combination detectors.
