Lightweight
One of the best ones I own, lightweight and easy to use, good for beginners too as it minimises confusion.

That it is so easy to get such an archaic tool—thank you
Delighted to find I could still tat—-learnt how in 1956 and have made tatted lace occasionally over the years—- not tatted recently but was pleased to find the products needed for this work are so readily available and promptly supplied.

Not my favourite design of shuttle and not for a beginner
Not my fabourite shuttle . Since taking up tatting, This was my second model of shuttle purchased. Quite small so unless you are using very fine thread (20 or more) you wont get much on it and also I found that when winding the thread on, I had to pull it really hard to get it inbetween the shuttle ends and thereby I felt that it was damaging the thread. Because there was no shaped 'lip' or edge to the ends when winding, it has to be done fairly slowly so it takes longer than other shuttles i have used. Because they are quite small, they also tend to slip out of your fingers. The plus with this shuttle (and the only plus really) was the size for small hands. Having small hands, your tatting loop will be quite small and will therefore grow smaller quicker as you work with it. Having such a small shuttle helped keep on going a few stitches longer before I had to extend the thread loop.I don't really use these much anymore because of the issues mentioned above.
