Stick on fish tank thermometers

Slow to respond but worth waiting for!
I bought this because my last heater broke and I didn't realise straightaway that the tank's temperature was falling. So that in future I would get an early indication that something was wrong I bought this and attached it to the outside of the tank.I watched and waited for several hours - nothing at all registered on this thermometer. I even tried putting my warm thumb against the outside surface but still nothing.However, about 12 hours later I saw that it had come life and was indicating temperatures that were in line with my heater's settings.

Good back up thermometer
Always good to have back up equipment with marine tanks.This is Idea and not obtrusive easy to fit , but sometimes slight hard to read..
