For anyone that is interested in the paranormal
How these people were treated in these types of places is fascinating to know. I find it so interesting that ghosts can play a role in these type of hauntings outside of our lives. When I read Knowle's book, I could picture the point he was making with his information he was conveying. I can't wait to see what he comes out with next.

Good book with one major flaw
I work in an institution for the mentally ill and I have had a number of paranormal experiences through my whole life, so a book like this is naturally going to pique my interest. The history of mental health is heartbreaking. I did not take the time to research the histories of the various hospitals and institutions that were discussed in this book, but I do know the history is full of torture and abuse, much like what is reported in this book. While I enjoyed it, I honestly found the stories about the unthinkable abuse while these places were still in operation to be a lot more horrifying than the ghost stories. This book really supports a truth I have known for many years: The living are a lot more dangerous than the dead.

Scary
It's hard to believe how the patients were treated in these places. I really enjoyed reading this. I'm sure this is just the tip of the iceberg of haunted hospitals and mental asylums.

Good book
Interesting book that not only tells about the haunting but the history of treatment for the mental patients in the 1800-1900s. It’s no wonder that their spirits can’t rest after all the tortured treatments they went through.

good book, recommended read!
Definitely an enjoyable book: nice writing style, interesting subject matter, great presentation. The only thing that might improve this book is to add more stories--at about 83 pages, it's definitely a bit on the short side (or maybe it's just my enthusiasm for more that makes me say that). And if you're looking for more books along the same vain I can suggest "Haunted Healthcare" by Richard Estep.

Another good entry in the group.
I love this books. Thank you Zach for putting these out for us to read! I've read 6 of these books now and plan on reading them all. If you haven't read any of the other ones, don't worry, they are not narratively connected. This is a great collection of creepy stories and histories (my favorite part) of famous, semi-famous, and previously unknown scary hospitals and asylums. Only downside, this like the others could have used a pass-over by a copy editor but otherwise everything is good.

Just Imagined 😳
I love reading books about hauntings hospitals and asylum. I can imagine in my head, what's it like being there. I do get goose bumps reading this book at night...wouldn't change it for the world. What, got me interested in this book was that I live by a haunted hospital (on military base.)
