I bought a nice nugget ice machine recently but we have very VERY hard water in my apartments, so much so that my steel insulated tumblers develop a white powdery film over several days of refills. To avoid ruining my new ice machine with a scale build-up, I decided to use filtered water exclusively, but being in an apartment, I couldn't install a water filter and water tap to the kitchen sink for use on the ice machine.I decided to put a 5-gallon water bottle in the pantry next to the counter I chose to place the machine. I used plastic wall fasteners that are typically used for cable-TV coax runs, and mounted the water hose and the power cord for power strip, along the back-splash and wall, down to my pantry floor. The bottle sits in the floor of the pantry with the pump beside it, hose in the bottle.My biggest issue was getting the water line shortened to just long enough, plus a little extra service loop so I can move the machine for cleaning. This was necessary because the water line tends to "bounce" when the lengths are longer. Also, the bottle I bought has a peak in the middle and is deeper around the outer edge, so the float/pump hose sit at an angle and at times I have to tilt the bottle and prop it up to allow the pump to draw water when it's almost empty. I'm not sure if there are bottles with a deeper center but that would fix the issue I mentioned above if they exist.Getting filtered water from the local grocer costs me only $1.50/ per 5 gallon refill, so I get 40 pounds of ice for $1.50 plus the cost of the power to make it (I haven't determined that cost yet).

Instale el equipo y estuve dos semanas en prueba sin novedad, al principio me costó ver que dónde va la manguera del dispositivo al equipo de hielo había un tapón parecido a una conexión de manguera que había que quitar y el instructivo no lo menciona y pensé que el equipo estaba malo, al retirar dicho tapón se hizo la instalación sin novedad...el motor de la bomba funciona pero despide bastante calor y algo de vibración pero como no la tube funcionando permanente, pero al pasar el tiempo la bomba empezó a recalentarse porque no tiene un ventilador para disipar el calor y se apagaba por recalentamiento, esto hace que mi máquina de hacer hielo también se paralize y dejé de producir presentando un fallo....al final no se que hacer y este equipo me parece inútil si no hace su función de surtir agua y prender y apagar cuando lo necesite la máquina de hielo, no se cómo es el funcionamiento interno, pensé que surtía el agua y al llegar la presión indicada recirculaba o tenía un temporizador, no es lo que promocionan en la oferta de venta, le doy una estrella negativa a este producto me parece inútil y presenta falla

Easy to hook up to my new fridge and has allowed me to use the ice maker and water feature where I would not be able to have a water line otherwise. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the loudness of the pump when it is sending water to the fridge. Not really an issue because it only does it when the fridge is calling for water.
