I purchased this book to both expand my vocabulary and reinforce what I already know using a fun and interactive method. I like that they include Kanji, Kana, and romanji. I have become a large proponent of seeing Kanji, with furigana, while learning words that use it. I feel it has helped me in my journey of becoming more familiar with reading the language, which is a goal of mine.This book contain a section at the beginning over basic Japanese grammar and kana. It is enough for you to understand the vocabulary and sentences found throughout the book. The primary focus of the book is still vocabulary. I like that the quizzes contain both a matching section and a fill in the blank section. This mirrors what is being taught in each section.Overall, the pictures and coloring aspect of the book is good for visual and interactive learners to help the vocabulary stick. If that sounds like you and you're looking for a vocabulary book, I would recommend this book. If you are looking to focus on grammar or reading, I feel that this book will give you the very basics that most readers will quickly out-grow.

Jam packed with vocabulary and grammar. More of a learning tool than a coloring book. This is too advanced for an 8 year old. More teen / adult level learning. The company is very responsive and helpful.

The Japanese Picture Dictionary Coloring Book is great for beginners learning Japanese. The book starts off with a brief overview of hiragana, katakana, and kanji, then has a section of basic grammar. The bulk of the book is a series of vocabulary lists organized by category (such as clothing, pets, vegetables, etc.). Each list also has a coloring page with every item in the list.What I like most is that it contains full kanji with furigana, and not just romaji. This book is great for learning vocabulary. If you want to learn Japanese, definitely get this book.

I bought this book for my Japanese studies. It helps with visuals a lot and especially with (new) vocabulary. I like the fact it brings Kanji, Hiragana, Katana and Romaji writings. There is some basic Grammar, as well. I do not care about the coloring but if you do, this book will definitely add to your overall Japanese language studies.
