Great Book!!
I was expecting to hear a lot of war stories from his past, but hearing the human side of him really made this a compelling read. From hearing the hopes and dreams from him as a kid to being caged for 24 years and facing the consequences he made. It really bothered me how, in the end, his pride strayed him from the path of redemption he sought after. Knowing his closest family members died a few years before his death really opened my eyes as to why he was moving more recklessly after you've lost the foundation of ppl in your life. He should never be idolized, but his life will always be fascinating to read about. Thank you, Troy Reed, for being able to share this story. I hope the documentary eventually comes out!

Amazingly Wrote
I am born, & raised in, Harlem. I still am a, Harlem resident, as I write this. I known of, Alpo. I have seen him plenty of times. I have heard the stories. I have also read the stories. But, I must say” To hear of him being killed was, 😱. When I have watched, videos about his death, & pictures. I would just smmfh 🤦🏽♀️. But, reading this book, really made me see a different side to, Alpo despite the stories told about him. I felt as I was reading the book, & finished it, in one day, phone on” DO NOT DISTURB. That the, Author ✍️ captured a side to, Alpo that we did know he had, or cared to. The book 📖 became, Intriguing, & Mesmerizing because the man that, Harlem once knew as a MONSTER, seemed to have a soft side to him after all. All I could say, after finishing the book 📖 was” R.I.P Alpo ❤️

great read
This was a great read. I have heard about Alpo after seeing the movie Paid in Full and it’s refreshing to hear about him from a close friend vs the internet. I have also watched Game Over as well thank you for speaking to the victims family. Keep doing great work.

So So Good
Troy really captured Alpo from all angles which is something the you tube documentaries never really did. His depiction didn’t just speak to the character Alpo but Troy’s work humanized him. Troy really showed how the choices we make shape our future. I believe the love Troy and Alpo had for one another was genuine but Troy is a much more level headed player. In this piece Troy shows us the struggle between Alberto and Alpo. I believe it really all boiled down to just being able to be secure in oneself without material items and the outside approval of others. Great work here Troy. PS I read this in 24 hours. It really was just that Good.

Albert Vs Alpo
Pretty good book. I came up in these years. I was on Long Island. We had our things going on too but not like the streets of Harlem in the 80s. Decades later and a new century in I walked the streets of 145 and St. Nick as well as Convent and Amsterdam. What a big change of culture. Salute to the author and RIP to Albert and the gangster Alpo.
