My daughter wanted to give woodworking a try. This kit started her off with everything she needed. The tools seem to be a good quality and durable.

Admittedly the blades are kind of cheap and not the greatest quality. But tbh I still think it’s good value just to see if this is a hobby that you would like. I think I spent $25 on this and learned that this was something I wanted to pursue. I do not use any of these blades anymore, I have since upgraded to flexcut knives and hook knife.

I am new to carving and well skipped the spoons and went right to carving a piece of hickory.. learned a few things and learned a few things not to do. The knives are very sharp, the gloves are not as cut resistant as I had hoped but very happy with the set.

We bought this for my son who just came back from summer camp. He was excited to whittle a stick that he found at camp. What I really like about this kit is the gloves that help me to feel like my son won't cut himself. The variety of tools are great and the instructions are good enough. Some of the comments say that there aren't enough instructions, which is kinda true, but kids won't read a book on whittling. A few Youtube videos did the job. This is a great kit and would highly recommend for a beginner.

It is a wonderful kit for throwing in a camping bag or dash of your vehicle for some roadside whittling.The edges come sharp and at a good angle. I'd say strop each blade for a 5-10 minutes before First use and every 20-30 minutes of whittling on soft or green wood. I find myself only getting about 15 on medium woods. I do not suggest for hard wood. Using everyday requires me to spend at least 2-3 hours at the beginning of the week to sharpen 1 or 2 and strop everything else I use.The edge just doesn't hold up enough for my daily torture.

Ordered this kit for a young beginning carver. The spoon knife was a bit of an extra for this fourth grader. My only con is a lack of instructions for keeping sharp edges on these tools. Which seem to be least good steel. Handels aren't to large for smaller hands, but even comfortable for my medium adult hands. I would order a this kit again it's ready to use.
