Great light!
This is my second one of these to purchase thru Amazon as the first one turned out to be the best flashlight I’ve ever had. I love that I can use with two CR123A batteries or a button top protected 18650 battery. I’ve used both power sources and never had a problem. The light will get a little warm in your hand after a few minutes, but that’s expected with high output lights. The fact that you can program the light to your preferences (high, low, strobe) is a bonus. The metal clip and the carrying case are both well made and rugged. The case works with belts and with molle attachment points. Battery life on high is about an hour and 15 minutes with disputable batteries (I use Surefire batteries) and an hour and a half on high with the button top protected 18650

FIRST IMPRESSION - VERY IMPRESSED
In addition to a pocketknife problem, I've developed a bit of a flashlight problem. I have everything from $8 micro lights up to $400 custom built flashlights, in all different sizes, different emitters, using all different battery types.Different lights have different applications. This is a little too big (in my opinion) for an "everyday carry" light - I have a small AAA light affixed to my keychain for that - this is my newest "tactical light."If I were a cop this is what I would carry on duty. It is BRIGHT. Blindingly bright. And the throw is exceptional. For it's size, this thing is a powerhouse.People underestimate the flashlight as a self-defense tool. They're totally legal to carry. No cop is ever gonna give you grief for having one, and they can give you a real tactical advantage in the right situation - and unlike a firearm or even pepper spray - you're not gonna face any legal ramifications for shining this in someone's face (unless maybe they're driving and they crash because of it - don't do that.)I specifically bought this flashlight because there's an insane alcoholic man in my neighborhood who is growing more and more unstable and violent - screaming racial epithets, damaging private property, sometimes starting violent altercations with people, chasing young female joggers down the block, and sometime staggering down the street yelling at the trees - he's made my wife afraid to leave the house and take a walk, and I've decided to make him my project. He'll either be going rehab or jail soon. This is the light I'll bring outside to confront him at night. If he comes towards me aggressively, I'll light him up (I have it set to "high only"), and I'm sure he'll have a hard time seeing well enough to follow through on his threats. If it came down to it, I'd use it to alternately blind him and box/subdue him. If things really went south I'd use the light itself as a striking object, as it fits very well in the hand.I used another one of my bright 18650 cell flashlights to do exactly that last week, and as soon as I lit him up it sent him scurrying away and cursing. This light is even brighter than that one, so I'm excited to take it for a spin. This is my 4th Streamlight product. The only time I ever had a problem with one was with a pistol mounted light, and the company sent me a new one, no questions asked. I have no doubts as to it's ruggedness, but if I have any problems in the future I'll update this review.I'll probably by 2 more - one for my wife, and one for my truck.

Very bright!
As tradition i always buy my dad a flashlight every year after doing my research and ordering this flashlight. I can’t complain. The battery’s do tend to die fast when it’s on the high setting. But it’s able to light up my whole backyard and then some. I do recommend getting the rechargeable batteries as it makes life a lot easier to have them on hand to swap out

This thing is bright!
There isn't much to say, other than it is a good flashlight.

Buy this light as well as the 2L-X!
I bought this light after carrying the Streamlight ProTac 2L-X for almost 2 years. That light has never failed me and I wanted to try something a little brighter. The HL-X did not disappoint. It has been just as reliable and brighter. One thing to note, the beam has a tighter more concentrated hot spot. This is good for distance but not so much for close proximity. It also has a larger bezel and is 1/4” longer which takes up more pocket space. I still like the 2L-X for smaller rooms indoors. The HL-X is great for inside larger spaces or outdoors. If your trying to decide between the 2L-X or the HL-X, get both, but start with the 2L-X. Streamlight makes great reliable lights in my experience. Cheaper than surefire and takes 18650s. Pictures show a comparison of both lights and weights WITH identical 18650 batteries.

Yet another great Streamlight product
This is like my 6th 7th Streamlight product. Keep coming back because they are great. Great build quality as expected. Nice extremely bright center beam mixed with a wide bright flood light just like the other ProTacs. Streamlight has finally adopted rechargable 18650 batteries with this ProTac model. Nice they finally added a medium power setting. That was my only complaint about the ProTac line. EXTREMELY bright or dimmer than a candle settings. Now that's not a problem anymore. Just about the same size as the older 750 lumen ProTac model. This particular model number is only different with the packaging with the "newer" model that this one comes in a blister package. The newer model coming in a box. Save a few dollars for packaging that you'll most likely throw out anyways.Edit June 29; I purchased the two USB rechargable Streamlight branded 18650s for my light. They work great and a absolute necessary accessory. Now don't have to worry about spending one more dollar towards CR123 batteries and not worried to use my flashlight.

Stream light is the best
Amazing flashlight. Great quality. Can use rechargeable batteries as well; that is my preference. Lifelong stream light owner. You will love this flashlight.

Wonderfully bright on high
Wonderfully bright on high, even higher lumen output on medium than my previous Streamlight Strion LED on high (Nothing wrong with my Strion, it works great also). Love the ability to program it from starting in high mode all the time. I also got the rechargeable batteries.Streamlight 22010 18650 Button Top Li-Ion. I would recommend getting them as they claim longer run time. I haven't tested this myself, so I can only say what they claim.Looks like this thing could be run over by a truck by the way it is built. Great quality and less expensive than competitors equivalent.
