Q: what are they made of?

Sturdy #5 Plastic, they are just like the ones sold in a hardware store. Great buy!

Q: How do I read/ use the ratios?

Read it from left to right. To be 100% sure try using water first! This is a great idea if you are mixing clear chemicals BUT if you are mixing for painting a car the paint (your first ingredient) will normally obscure the marks! I ended up using three cups for my 8:4:1 $90/quart paint.

Q: does the cup has a flat bottom for proper mixing?

It has a little bit of a rim for support. If you are using a tongue depresser to mis they work well. Even with paint sticks it's easy to srape and mix thoroughly.

Q: Do these containers have lids?

Yes, depending on your purchase option (4 choices) one of the options is just 50 lids.
