Q: Can the table be assembled without the bottom shelf for more leg room?

It seems like it would be less stable without the shelf

I want to say yes as long as they don't lean on it. I dont think a dinner tray would too heavy but the cover does not cover the entire surface of the board either. It does not go all the way to the edges (at least mine doesnt). If you order it i would suggest maybe taking just the the board to the nursing home to get a feel of exactly how much room it will take in the space before putting it together. That way if its too big you can get it back in the box easier then trying to take apart and having to figure out how to get it all back in the box to ship back. That being said it does have wheels on it so it is very easy to move around and is a perfect addition for anyone who loves doing puzzles. I hopes this helps.

Great Puzzle Board

I am loving this puzzle board! Very well built, sturdy. The felt is very nice. It is great to have shelf to keep a couple puzzles and box of puzzle I work on. I like that I can lay flat and the lift as I work to the top. The cover is handy if I know I will not be working on the puzzle for a bit.Definitely recommend.

Puzzle table

I absolutely love this table.My husband bought me a puzzle for Christmas and I had seen puzzle tables so I thought I would do some research and find one.This is the one that stood out to me the most so I purchased it. When it arrived it took me about an hour to put it together all by myself.I have done about a 1/2 dozen puzzles on it as of now. Mostly 1000 piece puzzles (White Mountain brand) a little larger pieces and it fits fine on the table. I have also done a 1500 piece puzzle on it and it fit fine.

Damaged, cracked shelf

I was so excited to finally have a large enough space to do my puzzles. After taking everything out of the box to assemble, I noticed that the smaller board had a huge crack across it. I returned it , since going through reviews again, it seems to happen quite frequently. Unfortunate because it seemed like the perfect size and design

Get this if you love to puzzle and have cats

If you can’t puzzle because you have cats, you need this table. The cover is great to keep everything tidy and the cats from getting the pieces. I love the felt table, the pieces stay in place. I would recommend stacking puzzle piece storage trays to sort your pieces. The only thing I would say is I wish the adjustable height started at a lower height so I could sit on the couch. Other than that, this table is the best thing ever.
