Lego Architecture Farnsworth House
We purchased this Lego set for our son's 10th birthday and he loves it. He has been a huge Lego fan since he was in preschool, so although this set is intended for ages 12 and up, he had no problem assembling it without help. It took him less than an hour total to complete the set.He really likes building from tiny pieces, which is how all of the Architecture sets are constructed. If you prefer using the larger, traditional bricks, this set may not be for you. Although it has over 500 pieces, the finished model isn't large. It looks very cool, however, and I like that our son is presented with a bit more of a challenge than from some of the other Lego sets.Additionally, the Architecture series is nice because it encourages kids to learn more about the buildings themselves. While my son was working on the Farnsworth house, we looked up details about the architect, where the house is located, and what makes it interesting. As with any Lego product, the quality is excellent and the instruction manual is extremely clear and easy to follow.

Captures the essence
The Lego Farnsworth house is an excellent kit if you enjoy the architectural type models that Lego has been producing. It is a bit different than the other models in the series in that the scale is a a bit bigger, which allows you to see the interior of the model, which is a nice change. The kit is well designed and I believe captures the essence of the real thing better than any of the other architectural kits so far. An excellent job was done designing the house to feel like it is floating. I have liked the Farnsworth house since the first time I saw it, and the model does it justice. Not much playability to it, but if you're buying these sets because you like architecture, and legos, you aren't looking to build anything else with the pieces anyway. The build is pretty straight forward, just two points to note: despite the number of pieces listed on the box, about 150 of them are 1x1 flats to capture the deck, patio, and interior flooring. This does make it a bit tricky getting them all looking straight. The kit is simpler than the number of pieces might suggest. My only negative on this kit is the base which it sits on. Rather than a single base plate, it is a series of 12 6x10's which are connected together underneath. This leaves the base feeling a bit unstable and I wish it were a single flat plate. All in all, a great kit.

Your Never Too Old For Legos.....
I grew up with lego, and am now 23. So when I saw that lego had come out with sets for more grown adults to enjoy I was happy. What made it even better is that I graduated from college in a Architecture Major, so I am big into Architecture. While this set may seen minimalistic, in the end it is that characteristic that sets it apart and makes it unique. It was a blast to build and is probably the one lego set that took the longest to build out of all the lego sets I have built in my life thus far. If your a perfectionist like myself, you are going to want to make sure all the little flat 1x1 tile line up perfectly, EVERYWHERE. I found out (and I'm sure alot of other reviewers found out also) that it just simply doesn't look good if the 1x1 tiles are crooked all over the place. I think that is the reason this set takes so long to build over the others. Overall I would definately recommend this set. The price may be steep for some, but I think its a price thats worth it. I'm still waiting to breakdown and buy the Fallingwater Model.

Did someone say tedious?
I'm really conflicted about the Farnsworth House and here's why. First off, I think this set really deserves a 3.5 out of 5, but there are no halves here. This set is big. It may not be as dense as Falllingwater, but I would actually say this is the biggest out of five sets I've constructed so far (I hope the Robie House is larger). So, why the 3.5 stars? The designer of the set apparently hates the top of Legos. His goal in life was to cover them all with little flat pieces. I mean SERIOUSLY HATES THEM WITH A BURNING PASSION. Most of the pieces you'll find in the box are flat pieces that will be the roof and landings for the home. Also, did I mention most of the pieces are 1x1 flat white pieces?!? The only possible reason I can think of that someone would do that is to increase the number of pieces to show off on the box.All in all, it was still enjoyable but I feel that if you have to choose between the other mid-range Architecture sets, the White House and Villa Savoye would be better alternatives.Pros:-Quite possibly the largest set other than the Robie House (and Fallingwater depending on your definition of large).-It has furniture inside the home, neat.-Sleek, Floating design (to which I credit the original architect and the Lego artist)Cons:-The 1,374,937 flat 1x1 pieces you put on the landings of the home which are impossible to align.-A lot of Green Space is left around and underneath the home.-While there is furniture, there is no real feeling of different rooms inside the home.If you liked this review, check out my others on Fallingwater, Villa Savoye, The White House, and the soon to be completed Sydney Opera House!
