I breed rats and mice as a side hobby and this was the best cost by weight bedding I could find. One of these bags lasts me about a month with a cleaning every few weeks or so with ~50+ rats and 16 bins.In terms of smell after a changing it smells fine for a few days but depending on how many rats you have it'll be less than a week before the smell becomes strong again.I can't speak for other bedding but this one is pretty easy to clean, just bang the bin against the inside of a garbage can and most of it comes off and the stuff that doesn't scrapes off easily.My breeders do enjoy it over other beddings I've tried, they make nests pretty easily it seems like. I do recommend this for breeders and pets just because it is the best bang for your buck with bedding and I don't have any reason to dislike it.

I believe this is a good value though I can’t use it. I wish I’d known it wasn’t like the other aspen shavings that are actually chips. I use that for litter for my rabbit. I can’t use this because it’s more of a powder. Sounds like the snake people like it but if your looking for aspen bedding in chip form, this isn’t it
