This book was a joy to read. Bobby has a way of explaining the pretty technical concept of Bitcoin (for a non tech savvy person like myself) and break it down in a way that I could easy understand.I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in taking their first steps on learning about Bitcoin, understanding it’s technology and how it can make our world a better place.Thank you for writing an amazing book!

This book is an easy read - a layman's introduction to Bitcoin from Bobby Lee, one of the earliest Bitcoin advocates. Being acquainted with the concept of crypto via the popular media, I found this book's perspective to be a succinct and logical explanation of Bitcoin and its potential, without too much hype or hard selling. That being said, I did acquire a bit of Bitcoin after reading the book and told my wife we aren't touching it until 2035.Only took me a a couple days of work commute time to finish it.

This is an excellent introduction to the world of Bitcoin. Bobby Lee gives an interesting perspective on money, bitcoin and has a fascinating personal history to go along with it. Definitely worth a read. Then go buy some BTC for goodness sake!

For someone generally confused about the whole world of cryptocurrency and Bitcoin but reasonably IT savvy, a better introduction than this book is hard to imagine. After reading it, I'm now confidently buying Bitcoin.I got the introduction to this book via a Zoom presentation at my alma mater (Lawrenceville) and I deeply appreciate the time the author took to do that for us.

The Promise of Bitcoin is a well written story about the past, present and future of Bitcoin, the main and most famous digital currency within the crpyto space. This is not a technical book and you will not find specific jargoon so this makes it an excellent introduction for anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding about this digital currency.The book will show you how Bitcoin and the new descentralized technologies (blockchain) are offering a better alternative to the traditional monetary and banking system after nearly a century of fiat money and fractional reserve banking which are prone to inflation and recurrent financial crisis leaving ordinary people's savings to the mercy of big Banks, leveraged financial institutions and governments.We all know that fiat money loses value over time. It might not be clear in a matter of days or weeks, but over a longer time-frame like years or decades it becomes evident. Even the US dollar which is one of the world's most trusted reserve currency has lost more that 97% of it's purchasing power since it was first issued at the beginning of the XXth century.The same happens with Banks and the whole monetary system built on fractional reserve banking, discretionary monetary policy and lenders of last resorts. I've had this book for a while now and honestly, I was hesitant to read it as like many, I was just unsure about bitcoin and the hype. I finally picked up the book and found it inspiring and fascinating, learning the history of how it started, and the whole idea of a decentralized currency. The book clearly explains the problems of the current central monetary system, and it completely makes sense why the value of bitcoin is only going to go up. The author explains his early mining days of 2011 and has since seen the ups and downs in the last decade. With today's discount, there's no better time to diversify assets and invest into the future. As the book explains, investing in bitcoin will come with some volatility, but as more institutions (i.e., academic endowments, banks, mutual funds, corporations, etc.) adopt it, we should see significant returns in the next 10 to 20 years.
