I am looking for a product that will still have that rubbery traction but able to withstand temperature. I am trying to be able to attachan object to a piece of metal with magnets so that it can be attached and detached. I need the surface to keep it from slipping I.E. silicone.

Google "Curie Temperature" before using magnets on any type of homemade smoker,grill or stove repair. Because you chose this high heat sealant, I assume you'll be cooking or at least burning something. The sealant may hold the magnet to the desired object, but at a certain temperature, the magnet itself will fail.

would this work to repair a wooden boat? Is it waterproof?

I believe it probably would, not sure you would need 500 degree temperatures though. you can buy a regular black silicone at the auto parts store. regular black silicone should work great on a wooden boat.

This would not work. Car radiators hold water under pressure as it heats up. Radiator caps generally are rated at 15 pound per square inch before they realese pressure.

Does it smell? After or before?

It smells like silicone sealer for a while then it fades after a day or so to nothing.
