Love my Siemens Gigaset E630!
This is a truly awesome phone. I had to replace my Siemens 8800 system after 14 years and knew that no other brand would do - better build quality and longer lasting than the offerings from Panasonic, VTech, etc. I spent about a week investigating the new cordless phone offerings on Amazon and other sites and feel that this one strikes the right balance of offering everything you need and more without having too much techno gadgetry or complexity for typical home use. I'm not shy around technology and I have to say that this is a truly full-featured phone with too many helpful functions to list. Also, unlike what others reported previously, it does indeed have a mute function(look at the right side of the center intercom button that has an image of a microphone with a diagonal line drawn across it). I've spent the last day studying the well written owner's manual and customizing my phone system (5 phones) and am excited with my new possibilities. Also, I don't have small children in the house and don't plan to use these handsets near water, etc. but still wanted a rugged yet stylish phone to withstand the occasional drop to the floor - much like the 8800 which now seems very antiquated. With that said, there are a number of intriguing Siemens models that are not available in the US but this phone still seems like a winner. I will report back as I continue to use the phone but so far so good!UPDATE 10/2020: Phone still works great. Note that the clear plastic display on the front will develop a cloudy haze with regular use. Just wipe it down with alcohol and you will be good to go.

Little bit of issues but overall great phone.
Sound is great, it reduces background noise. Very easy to set up. Few drawbacks. They feel cheaply made and are a little thick. Sometimes you hit a button and it will press another one like it is a little out of alignment inside. Some of the features are hard to understand without reading the manual (cause come on, no one wants to waste time with that). The ringers could be a lot louder if you have a large house you will need one next to you or close by in order to hear the loudest ringer. I live in a small house and could not hear it two times away. And the last thing is the phones don't synch so you have to manually program each phone number into each phone. They are worth it for the call quality though and the battery last a long time. Will update if I have any issues.

do not buy this item!
This telephone has no answering machine even though it is advertised as having one. I have spent 4 months trying to get support with no help. Constant emails that repeat the same nonsense over and over again and finally I was told this morning that my phone has no answering machine, E630A. It is advertised on Amazon as having an answering machine and product support. Neither is true.

Simply The Best !!
This is the best home consumer phone that you can buy in the United States. You will need to plug it in and then spend an evening learning how the Germans "think". I already own a BMW so I am learning too. Once you figure out a few things that are not explained well in the manual, you will love this phone and you will thank me for convincing you to buy it. The items that are NOT explained adequately in the manual are precisely the things that a German would not need to have explained. Hence, there is no need to delineate them in writing. For example, a German would know immediately that if you want to engage the speaker phone, all you need to do is hit the green button a second time. (The Germans love to give double (and sometimes triple duty) to a variety of buttons.) That is important to understand. It comes in handy when you are adding phone numbers to your in-phone directory. For example, if you are adding the name 'Kline' to your directory, you will need to hit the number "5" twice to bring up the "K" on the screen. After a few failed entries, the process will become so automatic that you will be adding numbers so fast that the process will become second nature to you. At that point, you will begin thinking like a German and you will really begin to understand what this phone is capable of. For example, Americans do not understand, (and therefore complain) because the cup holders in their BMW are terrible and there are not enough of them. If you understand how Germans think, you will begin to understand why BMW designs cup holders so poorly. (In Germany, they drive so fast that holding a giant slurpy is simply out of the question.) You keep your HANDS ON THE WHEEL and pay attention to what you are doing. On this one, I can simply guarantee my recommendation and you can curse me if you find out that I have been misleading you.

Not any better than reg cordless phones
I bought these because I destroy cordless phones on a regular basis. I didn't like how these operated and they aren't any more rugged than a plan ol Walmart cordless. Only thing I can say good it the reception is awsome. Both phone are broken and unusable now. They lasted less than a year

Good but Very Expensive
The phones work as presented. They have a good sound quality, good range, and set-up tokk about a minute. However, they are VERY expensive.

Nice phone.
For some reason though, it wouldn’t work with computers you come across now and then, where you have to punch in a number to make a selection. This puzzles me. Is there some setting I overlooked or something? I don’t know. In the mean time I’m continuing to use my old phone for that purpose. Overall I like theGigaset phone’s very much and enjoy using them! - nice sound, menu’s and look. They still get a 5 star rating. If anyone can help solve my problem I would appreciate it, thanks.
