practical advice from someone who knows
I’m just starting to educate myself about learning difficulties and found this book. The author, herself, has learning difficulties, as does her son, which made the clear examples and tips offered in this book more meaningful because everything is grounded in real life experience and trial and error. This book was easy to read and digest. I walked away with practical tips and a deeper understanding of my role as a parent of a child with learning difficulties.

Great insight for a more intimate relationship with their dyslexic kids
Amazing insights and really informative on how dyslexia bleeds into every aspect of a child’s life. I was just diagnosed with dyslexia at 42 and this book made my whole life much more comprehensible!

Best book I ever read so far...
First of... I'd like to thank the author for writing this book and can't believe that she is even have this difficulty. The book is great especially for people that wanted to know about dyslexia like me who is new on this journey. While reading this book, I have several "Aha!" moments that explains my child behavior. As she explained a lot of things in the book, it made me feel that I confided to her all my concerns and she gave me answers. I read articles, research papers and other books but none really explain to me so well the many "why?" and what I need to know about my child. This book helps me not just understand but strategize to get better results out of my child without draining a lot energy.So... Mrs. Beth Beamish.... thank you.

Worth the read
As a parent of a dyslexic child, I found this book packed with a lot of good resources. I found the 3rd party conversation a bit distracting, just talk to me the reader. I also didn't like all the supplement, vitamin, and medication pushing but I just tried to skim past those parts.Overall I think all the good in this book outweighs the few complaints I have. Certainly it is written in a way that is way more accessible to me than most of the books on this topic which can be very scientific. If you are a parent, teacher, or support person for someone with dyslexia, this book is worth the read.

Newly Diagnosed? Start here.
A quick read, full of rich advice on how to wrestle the octopus that is dyslexia. Written from a parent's perspective, it's less clinical and more familiar, exactly as if you're having a chat in the schoolyard. I discovered many resources and strategies to use with my dyslexic child. I'm so grateful for the wisdom of those who've walked this road before me, and hope some day to be able to help others with what I've learned. I appreciate the practical advice, not just academically but emotionally, a side of dyslexia which is less-frequently discussed. From a tired mom who found much encouragement in this book, I highly recommend!

Great resource
I appreciated the author’s perspective as someone both dealing with her own dyslexia and parenting a child with dyslexia. Lots of great resources and anecdotes in this book. It was a perfect place to start my journey as I learn more about how to parent a child with learning differences.
