I bought theses as a gift for my father in law, trying to surprise him (I get him exotic jerkies every year) and knew he wouldn't expect this. He ended up paying me and my cousin to eat it, I did half no problem. Very dry like a mummy. The cousin..he couldn't keep it down. Made great Christmas memories!

I got this for a dirty santa. The reactions were great. The goft recipient did not like it. Said it had a horrible texture and needed more seasoning.

The first time I bought this, it was 20 USD in 2019 for 2 zebra tarantula in their own little plastic bags in a can (with an oxygen absorber of course). Now in 2024, it's 35 USD for 1 tarantula in an enclosed plastic ramekin in an envelope.I'm saddened to see that these reached such high costs with lower quantity. The value has regressed.I'm not bothered that they are a lot smaller than they are displayed or if they are broken as long as it's recognizable as a spider. It's been boiled and dehydrated; cooked foods shrink; dehydrated foods shrink more. It's not supposed to be a juicy snack. If it had liquid, it wouldn't last the shipping duration from Thailand to Rhode Island to the customer's location. What do you all expect when it's food from an overseas country and says "dehydrated"?

If you are needing the full spider whole, you will not get it. It will be broken up into pieces.

I bought this at Christmas time for my mother who is terrified of spiders. I know that sounds mean but I thought it would be a fun bonding moment for the family to laugh and try a dead spiderWe all laughed. No one ate the spider. It sits on her dresser still in tacked in the container still 2 months later.Wonderful memory maker, but i dont know how it tastes.

The package arrived partly opened. It comes in a beef jerky type, zip top bag, and the seal at the top was already ripped open. The spider in the little plastic cup inside. The spider was small but looked ok other than a leg was broke off, not a big deal. But I don’t know if I feel comfortable eating something that came in a already opened the package. total waste of money non-returnable. reached out to Amazon support their chat bot replied with it needs to be sent over to the seller who has yet to get back to me.

First of all the photos of a tin can are false. It comes in a pouch like you would get when you buy beef jerky. This alone sucked because I wanted to have it as a white elephant gift. The tin was something you could put on your shelf as a display. The bag looks like a grocery item.Secondly the description when I bought it said it was barbeque flavored. When I got the pouch, it just said it was salted. I was definitely unhappy with the fact both the tin and the flavoring were misleading.It was still interesting to eat a spider. It doesn't taste great by the way. Just crunchy dryness. Imagine eating very dry crab legs with no meat in the middle, just the shell but thinner. That's about the experience you'll have.I would have been happy with the product if it was in a tin, but it wasn't. I was then further unhappy when it wasn't barbeque powdered. The experience was neat, but the false advertisement destroyed a lot of the coolness.

Okay I gave it a 5 star in flavor simply because it tastes like a tarantula. I've ate 3 in my life due to my job/hobby. Imagine picking up a woodchip and chewing on it. That is the flavor and texture of a tarantula. I think the novelty it's worth the money.
